Breast Skin Inflammation

Two weeks ago, I had pinkness, inflammation, and irritation in my left breast. I went to a health clinic and I saw an ob. The ob prescribed antibiotic ointment and a course of oral antibiotic as well. I completed the course of antibiotics with some improvement in the problem area. Diameter has decreased and the pinkness has mostly subsided, but there is still marked inflammation in the the area. I was told by the ob to continue with the topical antibiotic treatment for two to three weeks. Ob was optimistic that problem is superficial. I want to be cautiously optimistic as well, but I still have concerns because years ago, I had other issues with this breast. I told ob about my history of issue with the breast, but ob was not terribly concerned. Ob asked me if before it had ever looked like it did at present, and I said no, so that was the end of that.

Also, I have felt tender below the skin lumps that come and go in my female bikini zone that I thought were ingrown hairs or pores...in light of my breast issues, I'm starting to question if any of that can be related. I didn't tell the ob about that because I was nervous and I wanted to handle one thing at a time.

Any thoughts on whether I am better off getting a second opinion on my breast issues and/or if I should go back to disclose the other stuff with the current ob?

I do have a history of cancer in my immediate family. Mom had lymphoma, died before age 30. Her mom also died of cancer in late 80s, and I cannot be sure what kind it was because death certificate says one thing (ovarian, I think) and oncologists had said other things. I am near age 40.

I would go back to the same doctor first. It sounds like whatever is going on is resolving though. sounds like you may have had some kind of infection
