edited January 2018 in Waiting for Test Results

its been 14 days since my excisional biopsy. I know Xmas holidays slow things down. My friend seems to think pathology prioritizes the ones that don't look great in first glanc .

She mentioned that probably took a peek at mine and it was worrisome so they will come back to it later to officially report it

What do you think ?

Waiting is truly awful, I’m so sorry you still don’t have answers. Have you tried calling today to ask if results are in, or are expected to be?

I think you can’t know or make assumptions, as much as we want to. That being said, I’d counter what your friend suggested; if they took a peek and found something worrisome, I’d bet they’d be more likely to get it sorted out faster, rather than waiting two weeks.

I hope you get answers soon do you can move forward, one way or another

I think it is more likely that because of the holidays there wasn't anyone to take ANY peeks at it.

I agree with MelissaDallas. Never heard of a lab "taking a quick peek" and then setting aside a sample to "get back to later". I know waiting is hard, but holidays (2 in a week span) do take their toll on turnaround of samples. Why don't you call and ask them when they'll be ready?

from what I understood they try to look at the samples as quickly as they can and flag the suspicious ones so they report the cancer and abnormal cells one first. So that it doesn't prolong diagnosi

Gosh, I'm so sorry that you are having to wait so long to get your results. If you haven't already done so, I would call them first thing in the morning and hopefully they will give you some kind of update.

Hi Roller40. I know its hard, but try not to worry!! The waiting is awful, I know. I am waiting myself for core biopsy results. I also have anxiety issues. Try to take a deep breath now and again, and know that for this moment, you are ok. Enjoy being with family every second of your vacation. This is precious time. You will find out soon, and you will handle results with lots of support. Remember this. I'lll keep you in my prayers, and visualize you having a blast with family on vacation!
