I'm 11 days post-op from bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction surgery and still in pain. I have been taking my pain meds and they help a little but didn't think I would still be in this much pain. I go see my plastic surgeon tomorrow but don't want to tell him about the pain I don't want him to think I'm just seeking pain meds. Not sure what to do?

Hi, Not sure what your taking for pain meds. I also had a bilateral mastectomy with axillary dissection of the level 1 lymph nodes on the right side but I took Ketorolac and I didnt need anything after the first week. I was on morphine pump while in the hospital, but only for 2 days, then they switched me to gabapentin and ketorolac. I was given narcotic prescriptions to go home with but did not need it. I also dropped the gabapentin when I got home, I didn't want anything that affected my thinking.. I wish you luck and I hope your pain gets managed.

I think you should let him know you are in pain, there might be an issue with your healing.

It's important to mention the pain, even if you don't want to get more drugs for it. I'm sorry you're still in pain.

I'm sorry you are still in pain. Absolutely mention it to your doctor! The doctor may be able to switch up your pain meds and find a something that gives you better relief. I had a significant amount of pain for a solid 3 weeks after surgery but after that it gradually got much better--each of us is different in our healing time and amount of pain we experience.
