Waiting for lumpectomy results
had a lumpectomy Dec 20 and I am still waiting for pathology report. Had mammogram and ultrasound first radiologist classified it as a 4B. My BS reviewed it with her go to guy for breasts and he wouldn't of rated 4b. Apparently they feel it is a papilloma. Horever 1st radiologist thought suspicious do to some vscularity and calcification . 2ns rad said not worried about them.
Had lumpectomy BS said looked b9. I'm still nervous waiting for report
Think the surgeon can tell by looking at it

Roller40, sorry that you're here still worried about your breast health. It can be frustrating when different providers don't agree. It wouldn't really help you for me to guess who's right at this point, since you've already had an excisional biopsy done and are waiting for pathology. My surgeon knew just by touching my lump, so you shouldn't underestimate an experienced surgeon's opinion. But it is still just an opinion until the pathology comes back. Even if it was truly a BIRADS 4b, that equates to only about a 36% chance that it would be malignant. Try to keep your mind occupied while you wait for results. Good luck!

Waiting can be so difficult. Did you have a core needle or stereotactic biopsy prior to the lumpectomy

thank you for your replies.
I have anxiety and this is just making it so much worse. I also spent NYE with my friend who is dying from stage 4 BC I found it hard seeing how much pain she was in and knowing I am waiting for my results.
No one can tell me for certain until the pathology comes back
Part of my anxiety is looking for reassurance and logically I know that the only definite answer is in the report but it's so hard to keep it in check
Hope you all had a lovely C

Silbar they went straight to lumpectomy. My BS removes all papillomas. Also they were afraid my duct would collapse making it hard to find the pap

Roller, if it's any comfort my BS knew it was cancer the minute he got to my lump - both times - and didn't hesitat to tell me he had “concerns", though we knew the pathology was the only way to be certain. I had results within 4 business days each time. The holidays can make that process longer, so I hope you have answers very soon

Roller~ I hope you will get your results this week and everything is B9.

Hi Roller,
I had my lumpectomy on the 28th and am also waiting for the pathology report. I had biopsies first, so I knew that I had IDC and DCIS. But now I'm waiting for that report to come in hopefully confirming that they got clean margins and that nothing else showed up. So I'm right there with you waiting! My surgeon said Friday I should know, due to the long holiday weekend. I hope you hear by then as well. This is my third time in what we've taken to calling the "waiting room" - two different sets of biopsies and now the LX report. The waiting is really hard. Hang in there and let us know what you hear.
