Anyone get back and chest pain with fibrocystic?
Hi,
My US showed apparently a whirl in the fibrocystic tissue, feels like a lump but BS calls it a whirl. Anyone else had that?
Also, anyone else had back pain, between the shoulder blades, and radiating through to the chest with benign breast condition?
Also have a breast dent, and flaking skin on the naughty breast as I call it.
Would LOVE to find someone who has had similar symptoms to me, am trying to work out how I'm going to cope with this for the rest of my life without any way to treat it?!
xx

You did not get an MRI?
-
no they never suggested one.
Flaky skin turned out to just be flaky skin, went away with moisturiser.
Back pain still there, off to doctor again today, feel like such a silly woman but there has to be an answer! Maybe I will try and request an MRI?
-
Ah maybe it is all linked?
Doc today said my back pain was caused by anxiety! She could be right. But still, not much fun going to a doc in pain and to be told its in your head!
She gave me the option of a chest x ray if I need further assurance. And I've asked for full bloods.
Don't think the chest X-ray would show anything if it was cancerous would it?
-
Hmm valid point. I don't think they class my bump as a "lump". Basically it feels like a lump from the outside, but apparently on the US it is a "whorl in the fibrocystic tissue".
Had full bloods done today.
Will keep an eye on the dent, maybe it's cellulite
hahah!

I definitely get all kinds of pain with fibrocystic breasts--into the armpit, shoulder, collarbone and my back right behind the breast. I was at the breast surgeon yesterday after dealing with this pain for over a year, multiple ultrasounds, an MRI and a mammo and the only things he has really suggested are Vitamin E, sports bras and to minimize caffeine. None of these have really seemed to work for me but I have also seen some alternative practitioners who have suggested iodine, magnesium and selenium for fibrocystic breasts so i'm probably going to give them a try. Fibrocystic breasts can be a result of hormonal imbalances so trying to clean up the diet and cut out sugar is one of the first steps to balancing. I've been eating clean for about a month and have had improvements in other ways but not the breasts yet.
I hope you feel better!!

I have extremely dense, severely Fibrocystic breast, I do get breast, chest, and back pain. There is never a day I do not have pain! I have cut back on caffeine, watched diet, tried vitamins, nothing works. I am a pro at the side hug, full frontal bear hugs are the worst!
-
I have extremely dense breast and fibrocystic changes...just had a growing fibroadenoma removed. I often have shoulder into my back (shoulder blade aches) and twinges to aches to sharp pains in right breast and never connected. Will
ask dr but it makes sense. -
Oh thats kind of a relief to hear guys, sorry for your pain though!
Apparently I don't have fibrocystic breasts though, or fibrocystic disease. Just a patch of prominent tissue? Bit tired of even thinking about it. Just going to carry on with life as normal! Follow up ultra sound in August and blood work came back all clear.

I have had dense, cystic breasts for nearly 2 years. From December they were increasingly uncomfortable so that I was always conscious of them and took acetaminophen for pain. I am in perimenopause. So in late May I started drinking kefir (a strong probiotic) daily..not a lot but introduced it to my diet. I changed nothing else. I was dreading my June 9 mammogram expecting it to hurt like hell but realized that my cysts weren't as filled and didn't hurt..in fact the technician said my largest lump was smaller than my 2015 mammo. Go figure. Unfortunately that mammo and US identified a real lump which is early stage cancer and not benign but all the cysts are fine. Fast forward to July 9and I'm continuing to use kefir every day with the same diet and caffeine levels. ( now I make my own kefir). And my breasts feel great and lighter. In fact I could even sleep on my stomach now! So look into the benefits of high quality probiotics...I swear it was completely a hormonal imbalance for me and corrected the issue. Not to mention my chronic digestive issues are fixed.

Unfortunately I have more dimpling in the same area on the same breast. Have emailed breast specialist and will see what she says.
I wonder what the benign causes of dimpling are...anyway - doc previously said she had no idea what was causing this little dent as it went away when i raised my arm up, now there is more indentation around that area but again, goes when I raise my arm up.Also have armpit pain, itchy breast at times, little stinging feelings at times. But I think perhaps I am super sensitive to any change or pain now that perhaps I am over thinking
Time will tell!

I know this is an old thread I just want to say how happy I am to see that I am not the only person with shoulder/back pain from fibrocystic breasts. I have a large amount of fibrous tissue and fourcysts in just my left breast (right one is only slightly lumpy) and I have all kinds of pain with it! Shooting and dull achy pain as well as back/shoulder/arm pain. Not that I am happy other women have this problem, I'm just glad it is normalish.

I have fibrocystic breasts and the left is worse than the right. I have cyclical and noncyclical pain, and right now, the pain is terrible. Has been for last few days. Mine is way off to the side and goes under my armpit. I stopped sugar two days ago. I am going to begin weaning off coffee. Started vitamins again on Monday... E, C, D3, K2, selenium, lysine, and bought evening primose oil today. Hope that helps. Sometimes I wish I didn't have breasts at all.

Pumpkin 88 I know exactly how you feel. Until last May I never thought about my breasts. That is when I started getting cysts. I have four large ones in my left breast and a tiny one in the right. They are so painful all month long. I read a comment somewhere on this site from a lady that had fibrocystic breasts and she said she takes a probiotic and drinks kefir every day. I started taking vitamins and a probiotics and drinking a cup of kefir each day and I've noticed a big difference. My breasts are less swollen. I'm so thankful for this board. Benign breast conditions are very stressful for young women who have never experienced breast issues before.
-
hah! I just realized that comment about kefir was on this thread! lol it really does help. I've been reading a lot (probably too much) on here. It's all running together

Yes, I have two fibroadenomas and one cyst in my left breast and back pain on that side.

I'm 23 years of age, weight 110 lbs and have the smallest of small breast ever. This past menstrual cycle my breast were beyond tender while I was in the ovulation process, I thought I was pregnant for a second so I quickly took a home pregnancy test (2 actually week apart) came out negative. I notice when doing a self breast exam a lump on my right breast, didn't think much of it I until I was bothering me and hurting... went with my dr and he said it all looked and felt normal. I was not agreeing with him so I requested to get an U/S. U/S was today and I'm waiting for my results. Due to this I am having major stress/anxiety, loss of appetite and insomnia. Just like many of you I have the pain the radiates to my back, arm, under arm and shoulder. I'm still wondering if this is due to anything I can possibly have or just stress I'm putting on myself . As we al know on here, it's a very frustrating and scary situation. Also I get like a pinching / stinging feeling on my breast.
Don't have an skin change or discharge on my breast. I'm worried of what this could be.

hi I am 34. In the month of November last year, I was experiencing pain on my right breast with under arm back and collarbone and underneath pain. I did a self breast exam and found lump. Went to dr and he said he was sure it was just a cyst. But ordered a US . The US results came back as a cyst , and It said catagory 3 probably recheck in 6 months. But now it's 2 months after and I am feeling that while discomfort again and my anxiety is super high!
I have a diagnostic mammogram and another ultrasound scheduled to get a second opinion.
I just don't what to think anymore. I wasn't sure this pain can come with cyst.

Cysts can be very painful
-
Hi Itzel I think I am in a similar boat as you. My radiologist also said I probably have some sort of cyst (complicated I think?) and that I can biopsy or come back in 6 months for a follow up. My "cyst" is also pretty painful around my period to the point where it hurts to walk up or down stairs even. But I think if it painful you can push for an aspiration and if not an aspiration a biopsy may give you some peace of mind.

Hi I've suffered with fybrocystic breasts for years now. Had 3x drained to now. Was told both breasts are full of small cysts however there larger ones have been drained. The pain can be excruciating at times to a degree can leave me in tears especially when the bra comes off. It doesn't help the fact I also have had ovarian cysts too which I am currently waiting another ultrasound to see if this recent one has reduced in size or dissapeared. I had hysterectomy when I was 31, I am now coming up to 47 however they left my ovaries so I didn't go through the menopause early. Last week I had this slight itch on my left breast which when I scratched felt I hard lump beneath. Brushed it to one side thinking its another cyst. Following morning woke up with a red patch on my nipple right where the lump is beneath. As the day progressed I had this terrible pain In my left arm to a degree where I could not lift it. I've been on antibiotics bring treated for mastitis, the redness has gone, pain in arm much better however experiencing a lot of back, shoulder pain. Lump still there but not so prominent now. Do I still go bk to the gp for follow up appointment this Wednesday 21st Feb or leave it? The whole lot is driving me mad and feel like a right hyperchondriac. Fed up with constantly being in pain with both breasts and ovaries. Anyone have any similar experiences?
-
Hi there, my symptoms started last year and I was diagnosed in December 2017. It's progressed now to the point where I am experiencing extreme pain. It wraps like a band across my torso - a searing, aching, heavy pain. It radiates from the tips of my nipples, all the way through to my chest shoulders, around the sides under my arms and into my back. It's the worst in the middle between my shoulder blades and between my breasts. It's really uncomfortable and painful and I'm grateful that winter is coming because then I can cuddle my hotwater bottle with relish. Painkillers don't help me. The Pyridoxine that I'm on doesn't make the cysts any less nor does it help with the pain.
-
It's amazing how every woman experiences it differently. I don't have dimpling but my breasts are oddly shaped in some places. It kind of gives the ol' self-confidence a knock when you're supposed to still sport pretty breasts (that aren't supposed to head towards your stomach yet) and you don't. I try to hide my boobs from my fiance, there's nothing pretty about them at all anymore. Some days I feel like having the breasts removed... then I remember I don't have a medical aid and that I'm probably just being really impulsive.

hi everyone I am suffering constant right breast pain at the moment and have been for a while
Seem to be getting pains in my shoulder now too
I am 59 so don’t think it is hormone related unless still symptoms from menopause
Been Doctors and waiting for an ultrasound scan appt
I had a routine mammogram in January which came back clear
Doctor examined me and couldn’t feel any lumps or bumps but pain doesn’t go away
Obviously worried
Think I will go back to docs next week to try to hurry up the scan
Good luck everyone

Dear Debz62,
Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry for your pain and obvious worry but glad that you reached out here. Symptoms without known causes especially when related to the breast can cause worry for many. It sounds like you are doing all the right things to track down the reasons for your pain. It also sounds reasonable to try to move up you scan if that is possible if for nothing else but to offer you some peace of mind. Keep us posted on what you learn. The Mods

hello, you need to go see your doctor. Get the proper exams and tests done. That's not normal. Keep us posted please
