I have financial constraints and wondering whats an affordable way to get cold caps. Anyone here have some they want to sell to me? I only need them for two infusions. I had three Taxol chemos and then developed a rash. My doctor switched me to Taxatere today and I know it has a risk of permanent hair loss. I wasn't planning on cold capping but while I could deal with temporary hair loss, losing it permanently scares me. I will be having 3 Taxatere infusions 3 weeks apart and had my first today. I didn't cold cap because it was a surprise switch from Taxol. I would like to cold cap for the remaining two Taxatore treatments only. After that I will have AC, 4 treatments two weeks apart and I wasn't planning on capping for those. I am already losing hair. Started seeing hair on my pillow the week after my third Taxol infusion.

    Any advice/guidance would be appreciated

You should look into the Rapunzel (sp?) group.

Thank you. It turns out I can't do cold caps. My oncologist said it could cause frostbite as I did not start with my first chemo and the cold caps people said it won't work midway through treatment. I'm sad that I did not know that I would be on Taxatere and at risk for permanent hair loss until I became allergic to Taxol :( My oncologist says risk of permanent damage is small but I have read posts from women who had that happen on here :(

Meanwhile I am eating a lot of healthy protein and omega 3 rich foods and drinking water and planning on taking a biotin supplement and a chemo friendly shampoo. Not sure if it will help but its all I can do.

I had four infusions of taxotere and I never lost all of my hair. It's coming back in nicely. Maybe that helps relieve some worry?
