Strange Pain after Biopsy
Has anyone out there experienced this? About one month ago I underwent a sterotactic biopsy. All went well, the results were benign, and I followed the after care recommendations.
About a week ago I noticed I was experiencing discomfort in the breast involved when i bent over, or stretched a certain way. Not at the site of the biopsy, but lower. Then I noticed dimpling from the site of the biopsy down (vertical) in my breast when I raised my arm. The pain and discomfort got worse as the week went on.
I went in today and they took a look, and they are..confused. They have never seen this. They agree that the dimpling is probably from the biopsy (inflammation) but they don't think the pain is associated with it. I would have to disagree there, since both appeared around the same time. Current recommendations is to take IB profin and Tylenol, treat it with ice and heat packs...and they or my doctor will get back to me within eight weeks. And there is nothing they can do about the dimpling. (Once again, they have never seen this) Which is kind of discouraging.
Have any of you heard of anything like this?

I had a stereotactic biopsy in November. I also developed a dimpling at the biopsy site. It is most noticeable when I lift my arm. In addition I bleed easily and developed a large hematoma. The doctor said it was about the size of a golf ball but it felt larger than that to me. Maybe because of all the swelling. I only have minor discomfort with occasional twinges of pain. It helps to wear a good support or sport bra day and night for the first few weeks. I also apply a warm compress each evening but I did use an ice pack the first several days.
I still have to schedule an excisional biopsy in January due to having a papilloma with micro calcifications and a strong family history of BC.
I forgot to mention that it was painful the first week if I bent over. I think it was from the weight of the breast, swelling and hematoma. Once I starting wearing the more supportive bra it really helped

I forgot to mention that I still get occasional twinges of discomfort, not really painful. They do seem to be getting further apart, though, so that is encouraging. I think it is just the inside tissue and nerves healing from the biopsy pieces being pulled out. It helps me to use a warm compress in the evening while I watch TV.
When I had orthopedic foot surgery a few years ago I had the worst post-op nerve pains. They were so strong that my whole leg would jump. It lasted months and I remember thinking that was almost as painful as the pain I had prior to surgery and praying that it would not be permanent. They finally went away as the nerves healed and I think this pain we are still getting will be gone soon, also.
