24 Y.O. concerned
I'm going to cross-post this here as well.
So I am a 24 year old male. Approximately 6 months ago I noticed a small lump just under my nipple, that was painful when I touched it. I noticed it in the shower one morning. When I discovered it, it was pretty solid and somewhat movable, now it is very solid and wont move. I didn't think anything of it because in my mind, I was assuming that breast cancer or anything is so infrequent in men, and especially younger men that there's no chance that's what this could be. My girlfriend thought otherwise when she brought up the fact that my mother had gone through screening due to a lump that she had found. Hers was removed and that was the end of that. Now that it's past 6 months and it seems to have gotten bigger I am somewhat more concerned and it is just as painful. It doesn't really move when I try to poke around it, and it hurts! I have yet to get screened as being a young man it is somewhat embarrassing.
I guess my question to you all is does this sound like something I should get checked out, or does it seem like I am just overreacting?
Thanks

I am no expert at all but anything is worth getting checked out. At most, to put your mind at ease.

Hi, I d agree with Pomegranate. it might not be something malignant. But it has been bothering you for the past many months! Be it a lipoma, an epidermal cyst, anything.... get it checked and treated. And have peace then!
-
You need to get it checked out as soon as possible.
I was 26 and wouldn't be here now 19 years later if I ignored my lump, I had the same symptoms.
Don't worry about and get a biopsy scheduled in as soon as you can..

Welcome to the forum aceboogie. Since there's a chance that you could have a tumor, even though it's more likely a cyst, I'd get yourself to a doctor who will send you for a scan.
Keep us posted on the outcome and we'll all be here with more advice. Don't worry about the embarrassment, guys get this disease too and we do well when we get early treatment.

I am 23 year old male. Had a mammogram and ultrasound. Results Rad - 5 suspicious. I have not scheduled a biopsy yet, what are the chances that this is male breast cancer. I am so worried.
-
Welcome to the forum Confused51. Many suspicious scan results turn out to be negative. Only a biopsy will confirm a diagnosis, so that is likely what will be recommended to you. Anyway, you are on the case early and should you be diagnosed with breast cancer, your prognosis is excellent. Keep us posted, since there's people here who know about every aspect of this disease.

Thank you for your response. I am having severe panic attacks. I will set up an appointment tomorrow for the biopsy. Last year they said I had Gynecomastia. Now it is Rad 5 Suspicious. I am really scared. I am glad you are doing OK. How old were you when you got diagnosed?
-
OK, remember that not everything suspicious is proved to be a malignancy. I have to add that BC at your age is very rare. I was diagnosed at 63, around the average age for men. Meanwhile, try to relax and perhaps get some meds for your panic attacks.

I am feeling a bit better since you messaged me. I appreciate it so very much. I did take performance enhancement supplements since I am a bodybuilder, so I am not sure if those supplements have anything to do with my condition. God bless and thanks!

That's fine, keep us posted.

There is no question. Get it checked. Also, don't let your doctor tell you that it is just a lipoma unless you have had an ultrasound and/or man-o-gram. Most general practitioners are not qualified to diagnose what it is without proper testing. They simply don't have the experience necessary unless they are cancer specialists. My advice is to get a referral from you primary care giver to a specialist.
