Long term survivors of triple positive breast cancer.

Hello,

I have been recently diagnosed with Triple positive breast cancer.

Had left breast mastectomy and in the process to decide on further line of treatment that is chemo, herceptine etc.

I am quite scared of chemo, herceptine and similar drugs due to their known side effects.

It will he very comforting if people here with triple postive BC can share their experiences with these drugs.

Also it will be very encouraging if people here with triple positive BC can share their long term survival stories after chemo, herceptine and other treatments.

    There is a triple positive thread, populated with lots of people with your same diagnosis that are doing well in treatment and beyond. Here is the link to that thread - I am a triple positive, had positive nodes and a tumor just shy of 3cm, I'm here 7 years from diagnosis.

    Hi Ladies!! Thank u @specialk for the links, excited to read them!! I am almost 3 years out, but I do still worry about a reccurance or some new cancer developing. I research and research, but can not find a % for reccurances or survival rates 10 years and over. Thank you, thank u again for sharing!!!

    They say young early stage breast cancer patients have a pooer prognosis, due to the aggressiveness of the tumor/s and age equals longer life span than women over 40. So, it tends to cross my mind once in awhile. Even tho, I'm stage 1A, grade 3. I was diagnosed Aug 2015, at age 33, Triple positive . Stopped hormone therapy due to the awful side effects. I am 36 now and so far I'm still in remission. Thank u for listening/reading. 😊 God Bless!!!

    Hello! I am also a Triple +. Well I was on the left side. The right side was +/+/-. But I worry about recurrence nearly every day. I know stress is the enemy so I try to push it to the back of my mind as much as I can. But it's really hard to do. I was 54 when I was diagnosed so I suppose I am in that "older" group even though my doctor still calls me "young". I love her!

    I was diagnosed with the same, Jan, 2017. Looks like i am ahead of you in treatment Ask me anything you need, please. Also wondering how you are doing?

    I'm nearly 8 years out and like Oceanbum left was +++ and right was ++ a year later. The chemo was OK - I must say the first treatment saw me in bed for 10 days but given the right medication the following treatments were tolerable - not good for the first week after a treatment but then ok until the next one. The herceptin didn't produce any side effects at all.

    Hi.I also have triple possitive breast cancer. I just finished 12 rounds of chemo and I'm still doing the Herceptin injections. I start 4 weeks of radiation in 2 weeks. Dont be afraid of the treatments. When they are all done I will only have a 2% chance of it ever coming back. I like those odds and the treatment has been no big deal. Dying would be worse. Please do the treatments. They will save your life. Also I am 69 years old. Good luck to you.

    I just updated my post from 5 years ago under the 'survivors' topic.

    I'm now 15 years out from diagnosis of ER+, PR+, and Her2neu+. I was 46 years old. I had a lumpectomy and axillary node dissection and had a 3.7 cm tumor and 1 of 15 lymph nodes positive (several were lit up on the mammogram and one was enlarged so they didn't bother with a sentinel node biopsy). I got into the herceptin trial that was set up to verify that herceptin would help early breast cancer patients (it was already approved for those with advanced bc). I was lucky to get assigned to the study arm that got AC for 3 months every 3 weeks. Then I got herceptin weekly for 12 weeks along with taxol. Then herceptin weekly for 40 weeks. I also had 7 weeks of radiation therapy.

    I guess I just wanted to let you all know that there can be a future for those of us with her2neu+!

    Just had my SEVEN YEAR checkup and all is well from Triple Positive BC. I had a huge 6.5 cm tumor with 9 positive nodes.

    That was the good part - the bad part was that I was only able to have 3 months out of 12 months of Herceptin

    because of major heart issues after AC Chemo and Herceptin. Never did I think I would still be here.

    But I am still here and thriving.
