Hot flashes after breast radiation and arimidex therapy

Options

After my breast cancer surgery and during radiation, i have been taking 540mg of black cohosh three times a day as indicated on the bottle to relieve very bad hot flashes and it has worked quite well. I have been reading the dangers and side effects of taking this dosage as well as taking when diagnosed with breast cancer. Does anyone have any insight on taking black cohosh with arimidex and long term use of taking black cohosh? Are there any medications I can take to relieve the intense hot flashes which are constant? Any other suggestions to control hot flashes?

I used to have hot flashes on Aromasin, but Effexor fixed that problem. (Gotten past the hot flash stage, so don't need any meds now.) I've heard bad things about black cohosh, but can't remember exactly why. I THINK it may interfere with the anti-hormonals. Hopefully, somebody more knowledgeable about that supplement will come along soon.

Effexor helped my hot flashes. My DD Was drinking black cohosh to bring on labor, so might be estrogen.

Be best to call your MO, pcp or gyn.

Efexor is very effective. It's an antidepressant available via a prescription.
