Biopsy done Today
I'm new here, found out last year I was BRAC 2. Got baseline breast MRI Dec 2016. Follow up MRI done in November 2017 and a 5 mm lump was found. After an aborted biopsy last week, I had a successful one done today. Was told it takes 3-5 days for results. Anyways, due to the holidays and the University Hospital holidays I may not have results until Jan 2nd. That's a long time to worry. My mom and aunt both had breast cancer and survived but I'm still worrying. Just wanting to connect with some other individuals since I don't want to talk to family until I have results back.

Hello Veeder and welcome.
It will be pretty quiet on the boards for the next days because of the holidays so you may not get many replies. Stay off of google as you don't know what, if anything, you are dealing with.
Just because you are BRAC2 does not mean you have BC, thought it's good to know that you are being followed closely. Most biopsies do come back B9. Do you know what was seen about the lump that made them want to biopsy it? There are different kinds of lumps that happen to our breasts, and many of them are B9.
If you can get a copy of the MRI report and post it, we can help you understand stand how concerning things may, OR many not be.

Hi Veeder, and I'm so sorry you have such a long wait. That can be the worst part! We will definitely be here for you during all this and feel free to shoot any questions our way. But as much as humanly possible, please be optimistic and stick to your normal routine. And personally, I think you're right not to worry your friends and family right now, since everything may well be fine. We'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Thanks for the support from everyone. This is a portion of the MRI report. "Left breast:
There is a new 5 mm mass in the lower outer quadrant of the left breast
(series 5 image 151) at the interface of the fibroglandular tissue in the
subdermal fat. It has microlobulated margins. There are no areas of
non-masslike enhancement. There is no axillary adenopathy.
IMPRESSION:
5 mm mass in the lower outer quadrant of the left breast. Second look
ultrasound is recommended. If the mass is not identified on second look
ultrasound then MR guided biopsy is recommended." -
Veeder,
From reading that, it doesn't sound alarming, but it is a new finding, and considering you are BRCA, it is prudent to find out what exactly it is. They are saying "this is new, and we can't say exactly what it is. Lets find out what it is"
Let me give you what happened to me. I had a new finding on my mammo after years of normal mammos. They didn't know exactly what it was, so they wanted a biopsy.
It was something called PASH. B9.
My thoughts are, 1) don't panic. 2) do find out what it is, and in the meantime 3) enjoy your holidays.
Many things happen to our breasts, and most are not cancer.

Marie5890,
Thanks for explaining the MRI results, and your recommendations. Glad your's was benign.

It is very, very tiny, thats good also and I believe it also is saying nothing noted lymph wise, which is great too. Could be anything. I had 2 4mm thingys one next to other, turned out to be benign issues.
