Stereotactic biopsy today
I’m now in the “waiting for test results” phase of this journey. I had my biopsy this afternoon; it wasn’t too bad despite the fact that I was never completely numb and the radiologist had to go in 4 times to get a sufficient sample. Afterwards, she said she ended up with a “robust sample” and that I should hear something by Wednesday.
She explained to me that what was seen in the scans was a cluster of micro calcifications that were in a shape like a cluster of grapes. As well as an area near thay of very dense tissue. What could grape cluster calcifications indicate? I’m kicking myself for not asking more questions. She left me her cell number but I don’t want to call her unless it’s an emergency.

Hi Teacher Mom:
Micro calcs in clusters can be an indicator or warning shot that a problem is percolating. And they can be nothing. I believe my doctor said 80% of biopsies involving micro calcs are benign, 10% are problems and another 10% are indeterminate
The first time they were found for me, I had a very small cancer nearby. The second time - several years later - they were nothing. Let’s hope you’ve got a nothing. And if its a little more than a nothing, these boards will be a good source of real world info in plain English and exceptional support.
Will you keep us posted?
xx

Thank you for your reply, Belle. I will be sure to update as soon as I hear anything. I’ve had my phone near me all day in hopes of getting the call early. No such luck lol. Hopefully I will hear something tomorrow.

Thinking good thoughts for you!

HI everyone,
I am new to this site. I went for my annual mammogram yesterday- expecting all ok as I have had regular ultrasounds and mammograms for the past 14 years. ( lumpy, painful, dense breasts since a teenager) Last mammogram ( June 2016) showed small calcifications, regular shaped etc. yesterday it showed up some calcifications ( around 6 less than 1mm in size in an area of around 2mm) that were slightly irregular -and in a small cluster. Today I went for the stereotactic biopsy with the vacuum needle. Unfortunately they did not warn me of the noise- having your ear to the table and the pain. It went in three times I think, each time more painful than the last- I nearly jumped off the table! Seemingly they tell me that sometimes the needle goes into an area which may not be numbed by the local. Now I have had a hysteroscopy without anaesthetic and natural childbirth with not even gas /air and I’d go through childbirth again rather than repeat today! Should find out Monday what the results are- fingers crossed🙏
