bleach1,

Hello, I have not corresponded for a few years. I have tried unsuccessfully to find an answer to the pain I have experienced since the tissue expanders were removed and my silicone implant placed. During that procedure it was found that the tissue expander's weight had caused the latissimus muscle to fall. The PS pulled the muscle back up, sewed it under the breast, and placed the silicone implant. That is when the unrelenting pain began. I have tried many medications, techniques, nature healing, stretching, physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, chiropractor care, nerve blocks, and I haven't found an answer. For whatever reason, my body doesn't like the muscle in my front, or the implant. I don't have a question, or advice, but I wanted to say that after seeing 22 different doctors with no answers, I traveled to the reconstructive surgery division at the Mayo Clinic for what I hoped would be the answer. They said there was nothing more that they could do that I haven't already tried, besides removal of the implant with no guarantee that the pain would go away. I am beyond discouraged. Thank-you for letting me share my pain. Emotionally as well as physically.

    Hi Bronna -

I'm so sorry for all that you've been through. I don't have any answers or suggestions, but I just wanted to acknowledge your post. I feel like there must be someone who can help. I hope so!

I find cannabis oil is the only thing that helps with rib pain after MX, well after radiotherapy as that is what caused the pain, have you tried that?

bleach1, sorry about your pain. I read somewhere here( can't find now) that a lot of women got bad pains from surgical staples that were left in their bodies during surgery. They found that out by xray. Maybe if you also post your problem in "Pain" forum, you may get more help. Good luck.

    Thank you beauz,

I have had an ultrasound on that side but the doctors found nothing. I'm still searching though.

Can psilocybin reduce pain from surgery? Oops! I was just googling that after reading your post and didn't realize I was still on BCO! But, since it's now posted, I'll leave it...I've heard that there is current research being done... I wish we could all hold hands and let that pain flow out of you and each of us take up a little bit to send away. Sara

    Thank you Sara536,

I would like that, but I would wish for you and all of us, no pain at all. I have not heard of that medication, but it's something to ask about.

I just fixed the spelling. It's "psilocybin" better known as magic mushrooms. There is an integrative physician at University of California San Francisco who I believe has done some research on it. It's been used for hundreds of years by shamen of indigenous cultures here and.in Mexico. There is a movement now promoting experimenting with low doses of it. Look it up and you will know as much as I do.

Bleach, I know in our Flat and Fabulous group, there is one woman with a Lat Flap and implant that explanted and her pain did go away. Yes, there's no guarantee, but rather than stay in pain 100% of the time, there is still a good chance if you get your body back to natural and remove the implant, your pain will cease. So many of us had issues with recon and when we got rid of them, the pain slowly went away. If you have questions, I suggest you join 'flat and fabulous' - private group on facebook and ask the women (thousands of us) their experience with explanting and pain.

Lisey's response sounds a lot more promising than mine as it could lead to a permanent physical fix. Mine was offered in case you had come to the end of all medical options. Since it is being taken seriously by integrative physicians, I thought it might be something worth looking into. I'm not trying to push hippy drugs. By the way, that Dr. is at University of California San Francisco, not USF. Best of luck to you.:)

    Dear Sara536,

I think Lisey is correct, but thanks for your care.

    Hello there.

I am SO sorry you are having to deal with chronic pain. I had a latissimus dorsi flap almost five years ago and my muscles have never relaxed. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I'm wondering if you have ever tried Rolfing? It has done wonders for me. I've recently learned that turmeric is excellent for pain as it reduces inflammation. Personally, if you have any history of anxiety or depressive disorders in your family, I would stay away from mushrooms and any other psychedelic substances unless it is a very low dose. And I'm sorry to tell you that I had both implants removed and the surgery did not remove my pain, but that is just me. I think it's worth a try. Best of luck to you. I know how discouraging it can be.

    Hi Shannonlee66,

I haven't tried Rolfing, I've heard of it though. It is worth examining. As far as other medicinal or non-medicinal drugs, I am an individual that has reactions to medications, so I won't take anything without my doctor's consent. I'm sorry that you still have pain as well. How have you dealt with the pain and the removal of the implants? I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon next week about the possibility of an explant. I wish you well, and thank you for your response.
