Someone posted this on another site and I'm jumping at the chance to get this. I'd gladly pay out of pocket for this test if it's been shown to be effective. I'm going to ask my Oncologist about this, since I'm willing to pay for it, what is the harm? What do you all think?

I’m generally one to jump on board for any new testing. However, my onc was not convinced about the BCI test because she wasn’t sure the results could be relied on.

I guess one has to ask themselves if they’d be willing to change their treatment based on the test result. I think you hit the nail on head head re: “If its been shown to be effective”.

I have heard that drs near me are also involved in liquid biopsy testing. I’m so hoping for breakthroughs as my daughter approaches screening age. I suspect we are going to see a lot of info about the type of testing in the coming years. It’ll be interesting to watch.

I'm intrigued as well--ER+ and +nodes--but I would hate to get the test and find out that later it isn't proven that reliable. It may motivate me to make a less than informed decision about my tx before the long-term research is proven.

Right now--though joint issues and aging issues--are apparent--I'm doing okay on my AI. Would I like to stop taking it? Yes. Will I hang in there? Yes. It's been nearly 6 years since I've been on something-tamox for 1 year, then AIs--and I have at least 4 more years to go, or perhaps even longer depending on what they find about recurrence rates and long-term use of AIs.
