edited December 2017 in Waiting for Test Results

hi. I thought the radiologist would come in and discuss my ultrasound with me before I left but he/she didn't. The technician told me my doctor would have the report by the end of the day but that was Thursday. Today is Sunday. I called several times Friday but the results still weren't sent to my family doctor. I spoke to other people and they have told me the radiologist talked to them right after the ultrasound. I'm so worried that it's bad news and they want my family doctor to tell me. Also the radiologist took measurements and then did under my arm. That's worries me because I think she was checking to see if it has spread. I'm very scared

I'm sorry you're feeling scared. It is standard for radiologists to check the size of lymph nodes under the arm during an ultrasound. <3 I'm waiting for results with you too.

I'm sorry your waiting on results as well. The radiologist didn't see you at the time of your ultrasound?

Sakk, I am sorry that no one is explaining this diagnostic process to you. Please consider getting a written copy of your imaging report (not just the patient letter) as you are legally entitled to it and it provides much information about the level of suspicion. Breast findings are scored using the BIRADS system of scoring, with each level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (4 also sometimes has subcategories a, b and c) corresponding to a positive predictive value of the finding actually being bc. If you get your report, pay attention to the impression section and the BIRADS score. You must have received a 4 or 5 as those come with recommendations for biopsy (while 3 is typically short interval follow up). Read more about that system here: http://breast-cancer.ca/bi-rads/
