I found a lump on my left breast on 31st Oct 2017. Pressed my nipple two weeks later and saw a bloody discharge from a nipple. Went in for a mammogram and breast ultrasound. The results came back as fibtoadenoma lump. I insisted that my surgeon remove it. The histology came back 2 days ago invasive breast cancer. Am going in for a Scans to check for metastasis. I can't believe it. Still in shock. Have been booked for a mastectomy of the left breast while waiting for the hormone receptive to come out. So confused

So sorry you have to join us, Abby, but welcome.

Read as much as you can, ask your doctors as many questions as you have. It is often good to see an oncologist too to talk about what you're confused about, it is all so new, not just the surgeon. Make sure you understand all your options. On this forum are many stickies relating to when you are first diagnosed, questions about surgery, treatment plans depending on tissue type, getting support for anxiety and depression management, etc. When I was diagnosed in October I spent hours and hours reading up on the internet, on this forum, and talking to as many knowledgable people as possible.

When you get a chance, if you are up to it, also complete your profile information (and maybe also add your age), so we can get to know you more, that way we can help more.

    Abby4G,

Welcome to the club we never wanted to join. Just wanted to reassure you--all this is doable, and you'll be okay. But the first days are a total shock, like someone threw us into a big river with rapids tossing us around, and we simply can't swim to shore....yet.

Let us know what kind of BC you have, node status, hormone status etc. There are specific discussion boards aimed at our specific pathologies and dxes, and I'm found all of them to be more than helpful; they were and are lifesavers.

    Hugs,

    Claire in AZ

Abby - ditto on what Chronicpain and Claire said above. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, so close enough to remember everything clearly and long enough to have a little perspective. For me the anxiety was far worse than the treatment. Nothing was as bad as I anticipated it would be. I hope the same for you.
