Fat Grafting 6 days out
Hello everyone!
Today is my 1 year Anniversary of my bilateral mx! My how time flies.
I just had fat grafting from tummy to both breasts last Wednesday. I graduated from abdominal binder and hospital surgical bra to body shaper and sports bra. My right breast has a bit of redness. It does not appear to be hot to the touch. Dr. wants me to watch closely for any changes and I am returning to see him next Monday. He drew on me with a marker so we can see the subject area readily.
I've been doing alright except I felt like a patient again and I felt myself slipping into a little sadness. All my surgeries have been around the holidays so I can see why this would be a bit of a trigger. I'm taking time off from work and I will return when I feel up to it. I mean, I do need to give myself a break! I'm like the Everready Bunny as I just keep on keepin' on. I do know it's ok to give myself permission and time to heal! I hope this slight redness dissipates. I still have expanders in me. There may be another fat grafting procedure too. All this was done to help build up my skin after damage from radiation I had in 1998 and 2006. I am being optimistically hopeful! No exchange surgery until my thinned skin is built up!
I certainly do not mean to whine, as I am filled with a lot of gratitude. I am dutifully wearing my compression garment (as of today) and I ordered 2 more from JC Penneys so I make sure I always have a clean one. Basically, I knew I needed to reach out as I was feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Tomorrow, the support group I go to is having their annual holiday party. I missed it last year as it was 2 days after my bilateral mx. I am looking forward to some joy and to giving some joy. Love to thank the wonderful people who have helped me over these years! Thanks for letting me share. You ladies rock!
Regards,
Patti

Glad you decided to reach out. Anniversaries are hard. It's good that you have a support group.
Keep a really close eye on the red area. I had some pink patches show up 5 weeks after my surgery and it landed me in the hospital for 3 days for IV antibiotics. With reduced blood flow due to MX and TE's or implants in place, the risk for infection can be serious.
I hope you continue to do well with healing!
