Last Friday I was given my biopsy results & thanks to the nurse navigator today I was at my first appointment with the oncologist.

I really liked him a lot he spent an hour with me talking to me about my breast cancer. He said it is level 1 grade 2 with no lymph node involvement. He said my cancer has been found very early.

He suggest lumpectomy before the holidays and start radiation in January for 4 weeks.

We are still waiting on the hormone test 2 more days. If the Estrogen or Progesterone are positive one or both that means hormone pills.

He said the only way I would need chemo is if the HER2 is positive or when they remove the tumor and check the lymph nodes if they are positive.

I felt so much better after talking to him he really eased my mind, worries and concerns.

This Dr. was with Texas Oncology not MD Anderson.

He said he likes to see his patients every 3 months after radiation and do mammogram at the 3 month mark as well.

He will be doing bio markers now and he is pushing for the oncotype testing but they need to check with the insurance.

That's great that the nurse navigator got you in so quick, I have also been very lucky with schedulers fitting me in for things so far. Did the oncologist recommend a breast surgeon? That will be great if you can get your surgery done before the holidays. I'm seeing my plastic surgeon this week and the breast surgeon again next week, and will get my double mastectomy scheduled then.

The oncologist did recommend a breast surgeon and a radiologist. I have the radiologist appointment on Friday and the surgeon next Tuesday. Things seem to be moving right along. The oncologist seems to think I could have the surgery before the holidays if so that would be great.
