Follow up appt after a biopsy?
I had my biopsy last Friday, it was not planned ahead of time. I was going for a second opinion regarding my lump because while palpable it was not showing up anyway at my last breast image center. Anyway, the doctor said let's get one today and the it came back with a BI-RADS 4/5, so they said we can do the biopsy in 20 minutes.
Yesterday I got a call just seeing how my incision was feeling, etc. She said I should call on Wednesday to set up my next appoint with the doctor. Is a follow up appointment post biopsy typical?

For many facilities, yes. For others no. I always encourage people to ask up front, how long for results and will I have to come in to get them. It is quite common, so I wouldn't worry about that. BIRADS 4/5 is confusing. I've only ever seen 4 OR 5 because they confer quite a different positive predictive value. Hoping for b9 results for you!

I have not seen the full report, only what they checked to approve the biopsy which has a shared box for 4 &5, I am guessing because both would call for a biopsy.
They said results should be in Thursday or Friday.
Thanks for the well wishes.

Oh, I see. Yes, either 4 or 5 would call for a biopsy. Many of us here recommend that women get copies of the written reports for their own files. You never know when having those reports will come in handy. Best of luck and well wishes for b9 findings!

i have in the past or they were mailed to me. This time, I was not anticipating a biopsy that day so I think it just slipped my mind. I was there for an 11:20 appointment and a little after 3.
I called today, as directed, and I have an appointment for Friday, but I did not get the feeling that they require an appointment for results since the woman asked how far out would I like to make the appointment. I told I don't know because I was not sure about the nature of the appointment simply told to call today to see the doctor again. Given the parking I need to pay and the time it takes, I am going to call back and try to speak to the doctor's nurse to see if she knows a reason they wanted me to make the appointment or if I can just get the results over the phone.
I also just want them to tell me what the radiologist report says.
Thanks for positive thoughts
