omg I’m so nervous as I head to the beast surgeon I just have this feeling that nothing is gonna be the same. Anxiety meds not working so I smoked a joint this morning hope it doesn’t mess with the Barca jean (spelled wrong) test I’m also having this morning.no morning java cause I was told no eating or drinking 3 hrs before appt. Also would the surgery dr be the on every to discuss the tramadol my gp gave me for pain isn’t really having a effect or giving any type of relief??     This phase you are in of not knowing is, for many, the hardest part.

    Once you speak with your medical team and figure out what's what and make a plan, things should start to settle.

    You are right that nothing is going to be the same...but that doesn't mean things will necessarily be bad...just different.

    I see the radiology doctor on the 20th bc I have a scapula fusion I have lots of metal pins rods and plates on that side and surgeon isn’t sure if I’ll be able to do radiation also if the Barca gene test is positive. Double mastectomy if Neg a lumpectomy

    Will know more next week

    He told me my pain isn’t from the bc cause bc don’t hurt so idk y I’ve been having pain

    He is mistaken about breast cancer not causing pain.

    My very first symptom was pain which caused me to feel around and I found a lump. It was an incredibly painful lump. I know there are a number of people on this forum who also experienced pain as a symptom.

    I know that pain is more typically associated with benign conditions, but it's not true that breast cancer is never painful.

    I'm not sure who told you BC doesn't hurt but they are very mistaken. I had pain for months at my tumor site. It turned out my cancer had invaded the nerves so I now u understand why my pain was so bad I had to miss several sporadic days of work(desk job) . Prior to my knowing it was cancer in the nerves only ice packs alleviated the pain. Later from this site I learned about gabapentin hope I spelled that right. It doesn't make me loopy and it definitely helps. I'm currently on it for nerve pain courtesy of my taxol chemo treatment. I'm so sorry you find d yourself here truly hope you get good news today

    Well ladies I had my lumpectomy this morning along with a sential lymph node biopsy, and I'm sitting in my very own bed writing this.God is so good 😊 I believe that my anticipation or anticipation of the unknown was the worst and I have great team of doctors that are making me feel very reassured and I'm just ready to kick cancers ass along with all the rest of you beautiful ladies. I just have to tell you ladies so the tech came in the room this morning and I knew I had to have this this lymph node biopsy but I didn't remember the details and she tells me it was Robertson I have to give you an injection in your nipple With no numbingmedicine and it's going to hurt. Since I don't even remember which I'm sure they told me but I don't remember the specific conversation and I was already having madding anxiety I totally freaked out I was like oh no I cannot have a biopsy on my nip while I'm away no No way this is no way to do this totally freaking out. Turns out it was a very little needle almost like a TB shot that I had to get for some radio active activity but I completely blew it out of proportion laughing my butt off but I was very nervous thought maybe some of you ladies that have gone through the same thing my need a little laugh there was a year of how overdramatic I was I was just like the way no no no my nipple no numbingmedicine what

    I had the same experience, LOL.  I had read all the horror stories about how painful the shot was and I was thoroughly scared. Hah!  After they gave me something for anxiety I didn't care what they did. I barely even remember the shot and the mammogram that followed. The one thing I didn't expect was the blue pee from the dye.  Not that it frightened me--I knew immediately what it was--but it just surprised me. I'm glad things went smoothly for you. Now, on to the next big thing.

    yess this bright blue pee is so weird I swear I called my BF in the restroom and we both just laughed now I believe it’s 3 or 4 weeks before radiation. I seem to be having the most pain from the lymph node incision not the breast Incsion but I have pain medication and a comy bed

    Worried, I am glad you came through your surgery and are comfortable.

    If you have enough pain meds now and no trouble getting them for relief, that is good, but be careful going foreward about any further marijuana use, if that is still ongoing. With the crusade against opiates going on by politicians the last few years, which is escalating, one of the things docs are being taught in some centers is not to prescribe pain pills or controlled substances (which includes some anxiety meds) if patients take any illegal drugs ( marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, even though some states have legalized it locally even for recreation). It is best to have a medical record clean of "illegal" drugs if you have a risk for more pain, e.g., your spinal condition and now going into radiation, and may need narcotics or other controlled substances in the futureto stay comfortable.

    Yeah, my SNB site hurt more than the LX area, for sure.  I don't know if they had to dig around in there or what. I had "zingers" for several weeks as it all healed.
