IBRANCE - ALSO NEW TO SITE
Hi,
I'm new to the site but joined on the advice of others. They thought it would be helpful if I had a place to talk to those who understood. I was reluctant due to I once was part of a group and I always felt sad afterwards. I just did a search on a new medication I started taking 24 days ago to see results. And ran across someone who had great results went to her bio and found that make in March 2016 her life took a dramatic change and my heart dropped. I didn't know her but I felt great sadness. I know I need an outlet, questions answered and a community that understands but i'm not sure I can handle the emotions. I'm an emotional wreck not talking and yet still embracing this community i'm still emotionally torn. With all that being said I would like to try.
I'm taking a new medication call Ibrance. I was very reluctant but felt I didn't have a lot of options. I was originally diag w/BC in Jan. 2012. a lymph node occurrence in 2014 now it's metastised to my bones in 2016. My onc that this would be a good treatment for me. Let's just say i'm scared crazy. I've read all the side effects and they scary me and my husband. My 1st blood count showed by WBC and RBC were low but that I could still handle it. I'm just having extreme leg pain, horrible cough, slight nose bleeds, and tired beyond belief. have some others effects as well. Any suggestions how to get thru this? Any suggestions working the sight without tears everyday. I really do need a community. I'm one of those people who likes to offer help but problems with asking for help. Yup that's me. I smile like all is good even when i'm falling a part. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Welcome, Slarobinson. I think I know what you are saying about wanting to connect with others for support, yet finding it difficult emotionally to deal with the stage iv world. I would suggest marking some threads as favorites that you find uplifting and not too scary. For example, there is a thread where we stage iv people encourage each other regarding our exercise and fitness endeavors*, and another where we share how life goes on*. The stupid comments thread (all stages) can be validating and often funny. I deal with the bittersweet of having stage iv friends by telling myself that it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. That said, there are a couple threads I avoid because they are heavy and not where I am at right now.
Be sure to tell your onc and nurse about your side effects so they can help. Ibrance fatigue is a bear. Sometimes a lower dose is what is needed to feel human.

Welcome Slarobinson! There are plenty of women here living their lives as if nothing happened. And plenty with the same side-effects as you. We are all different.
The Ibrance thread will have lots of tips for you. But you really DO need to tell your medical team about your side-effects. The object of treatment for MBC is to live well. If you're totally miserable you need a change. A lower dose of Ibrance will work, probably just as well. It's such a new medicine that no one knows the minimum viable dose.
Hang in there, and have a hug from me.
