Newly DX DCIS grade 3, question on 2nd area of concern

I was recently diagnosed on 11/6 after calcifications were found on mammogram. Had the typical slew of tests, stereotactic biopsy, genetic testing, and an MRI. The MRI now shows another focal area that they want to do an MRI guided biopsy next week. Also showed multiple nodes that were predominant with the largest being 1.5x.07 cm. This has me worried. Has anyone had the new focal point test positive for DCIS? And I thought that node involvement was only in invasive cancer not DCIS, any thoughts on why my lymph nodes would be enlarged? I have family history with BC. Maternal Grandmother passed from BC, maternal Aunt had BC (mastectomy) passed from leukemia 10yrs later, cousin (maternal) passed from ovarian cancer @42yrs. Waiting on the genetic testing as well. Thank you for any insight!

    Hello Jandalulu

I like yourself was diagnosed with DCIS this year - back in the summer and so much has happened since. Following the diagnosis I was also sent for an MRI which showed up a larger area of concern which looked like DCIS. I did not have a further biopsy as at this stage I opted for a mastectomy of this breast which I had last week (22nd November) although I was also offered a WLE to remove just the areas of concern, but as this was quite large I opted for what was best for me. I am sorry but I cannot help with the node queries you have as I am unsure on this but I am sure there will be some lovely ladies who can offer you some support regarding that question. I did have the nodes biopsied at time of operation as this is the surgeons standard procedure.

I had so many questions to begin with and completely overwhelmed myself with it all, but bit by bit I found things easier and with the support of ladies on here and friends I have come a long way. I was obsessed with googling everything and every symptom - this did me no good at all.

I am sending you a hug and please contact me if I can help you further. Good luck with everything.

Thank you Gladyscat. I am still waiting on genetic test, having the additional biopsy tomorrow so I am hopeful that i can just move on soon with treatment whatever that will be. Just curious if you had thought of a bilateral MX instead of single? I am petite but with very large (EE) Breast I just don’t think that it would be possible to get them symmetrical with a single MX? And another question sorry, did they do an immediate reconstruction for you? So many questions. I hope you have a quick recovery!
