Hello Everyone.

I'm getting more and more anxious the longer I have to wait.

I hate Thanksgiving holiday. Was told Tuesday evening my prelim path report from Monday was positive for cancer.

By the time I processed it and was in a position to begin seeking out oncologist and breast surgeons, EVERY.SINGLE. OFFICE. has been closed from Weds through Sunday. It seems like they aren't closed that long for Christmas. UGH.

So now I have to wait until Monday to call to hopefully get an appt in another week?

Today I went and picked up my pathology reports and Mammograms to at least have that ready.

Unfortunately my path report seems like even worse news than the Dr;s call:

Cell type Nuclear Grade 3

Negative staining for Estrogen receptor 0%

Negative staining for Progesterone receptor 0%

Sorry I needed to vent. This is driving me crazy. Stupid holiday hours. Sheesh - Christmas only has Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so how does Thanksgiving get THREE days -(Weds-Friday)?

    Hi Ps,

Sorry you have joined the club but welcome. I hear you on the waiting. Black Friday has become like a new expected holiday I guess, and Weds, the official start traveling or get your last min stuff day.

Hopefully when you call a surgeon they can get you in this week since you already have your reports and hormonal receptors.

When I first made a call to 2 surgeons, this was back in early July, to have an opinion on surgery. one could see me in Sept? really? The other in 2 days. Guess who I took. Had my surgery. I get a call at end of August from the the Dr who had appt in Sept. They had a cancellation, did I want to come in. Ummmm, too late.

Beach2beach thanks for replying and sharing. Glad you were able to find your surgeon and didn't have to wait July-Sept. You would think they would have just told you they were booked up and given you a couple referrals. Hope you are doing well now.

Your Her2 testing is probably not in yet. If it is negative then you are "triple negative."

It's so hard waiting. Hope you can find distraction today. Good luck!

ps, sorry to hear about your DX. You are on the right track in getting your medical records together and seeking out your medical team. Unless you do chemo before surgery, they will treat you based on your surgical pathology. Sometimes that differs slightly from your biopsy pathology. Try to keep yourself busy while you wait. It will be here before you know it. You can do this!:) Please keep us posted.

Thank you Keep the faith. I'm anxious to get my treatment stated and get on with it. I've been trying to keep my mind busy with holiday shopping.

Oh, I feel you! I got my path results on Tuesday, managed to schedule an appointment with a surgeon for today only to hear they're all backed up for the end of the year and I might have to wait until January for surgery, but the scheduler was out of the office so . And wait 2-3 weeks for genetic testing and a week or two for an MRI. So much hurrying up and waiting. It is maddening. I'm such a fretting stress ball, and there's nothing I can do to move anything along any faster. I'm rooting for a quick surgical appointment for you!

I feel the same way!  So sorry we all have to manage the waiting! I just received my diagnosis on the 21st and right now that is all I know- that I have Invasive Lobular Carcinoma and that the tumor appears to be 7cm according to Mammo and US.  BUT, we have a great facility in Columbus, Ohio called the Stephanie Spielman Center which is part of the Ohio State Univ. James Cancer system.  I was referred there right away from my primary care when I developed symptoms (lump, swelling, inverted nipple).  I see my surgical oncologist and have an MRI plus stereostatic biopsy on Friday.  Still, I started this journey in October and now only have a diagnosis. Do you have a primary care physician that may be able to help you get to see a surgeon more quickly?

I hear you guys. This waiting is maddening.

I keep worrying that by the time I have my surgery (January - ugh sooooooo long away) that it will for sure have spread.

Funny it was such a rush to get me diagnosed, then crickets and nonchalance because it's the holiday season. Grrrrr.

TKA, I was treated at the Spielman and they were fabulous. I finished my treatment in April. Best of luck to you.
