Just Diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma In Situ

Just diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma In Situ. Non-invasive, grade 0. MRI next week. Tumor was 17mm (.66 inch), but doc says he doesn't think there is much of it left because so much of the tumor was fluid withdrawn at biopsy. Says he does not expect any surprises with the MRI. Feeling blessed.

Hi arkansasgal,

I had the same thing, removed 4 weeks ago; mine was a bit bigger than yours and a mix of DCIS and encapsulated papillary carcinoma (contained in a cyst). I was told papillary carcinoma tend to be slow growing and usually of very good prognostic.

It's very good you're also having an MRI to get the clearest picture before the rest your treatment. i was offered lumpectomy with rads at first until my doctors learnt I previously had radiation to the chest. So mastectomy was the only choice I had.
