Armpit lump 5 years post mastectomy

Options
Hi all. I'm new here but have consulted your boards often. I had BC in 2011 and a new primary in 2012, both stage 1 with no node involvement. Lumpectomies and mastectomy. Chemo and radiation. Testing determined high risk of recurrence. Last week I found a hard BB size lump under my arm (BC side), no pain and not movable. It's on my rib area about 1 1/2 inches below the fold in my arm pit. I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone has had something like this. BTW if feels exactly like my original BC felt. Thank you all in advance.

HI, I'm sorry you're going through this.  I hope its something benign and am glad they're checking it out. I know someone who has been through something similar will be by soon to help

Thank you bevin. The ultrasound looked suspicious to me this morning. Waiting on results some time today. Either way my OC wants it biopsied. Worry is a natural state after all we've been through. Very glad to have found this site.

Hate that you have this worry, but glad they are planning a biopsy to have definitive answers. Do keep us posted. (((HUGS)))

I'm sorry it's been a while. Had a core needle biopsy last month, radiologist was very sure it's metastatic breast cancer. Biopsy results showed b9, but the tumor board met and decided they felt too that it was malignant so will be having surgery next week to remove the entire lump and test.

Btw, the lump has almost doubled in size after bruising and swelling subsided, no pain. From past experiences with seeing malignancies on US it looked exactly as it had twice before.

Not really feeling scared, just ready to know for sure.

Mimi, how did the surgery go? What was found? I too have a lump on my armpit now. Having an ultrasound on it tomorrow. Hoping all’s well for both of us.

Hi bc barbie. Try not to worry too much. I FINALLY was able to have my surgery a week ago. Instead of removing a bb sized lump they removed about 5cm or more. I have 10 staples, which concerned me. But, my doctor called today, on a Saturday, and said they found no evidence of malignancy. Yay!! When they opened me up he said they removed a lot of scar tissue from my mastectomy. With my skin having been radiated it's making it harder to heal, lymph fluid drainage is the main problem. But, hey, my lymphedema arm is much less swollen. Bonus. I worried, stressed and lost a lot of sleep but that just goes along with our lives post BC. I'll be watching for a post from you. Keep me updated and good luck! Btw, I had 2 ultrsounds, a core needle biopsy, another ultrasound and finally surgery, so be patient. I believe you will have something similar to mine. Can you describe the lump? How big? Hard? Soft? Take care.......

mimi, it’s fat! Thank God!!! Thank you also for your prayers. However, i might need to have an mri on the affected breast since the first sono revealed a mass on where the previous incision is. A second sono wasnt able to find it
