edited November 2017 in Breast Reconstruction

I had a right mastectomy and left breast reduction in August 2017 followed by expander reconstruction and I finished the fills a few weeks ago. I was fortunate with an early diagnosis and did not need chemo or radiation. Six weeks post surgery I started getting infections along scars on both sides, reconstructed and reduced breasts. Surgeon thought they were infected dissolving stiches, but I keep getting more, even now. 13 weeks post surgery and the stiches should have dissolved long ago. I have about 15 open infected sores along the scars on both sides. At week 10 i started to get dark splotches about the size of a nickel on the skin over the reconstruction side. The splotches are very point tender, almost like more infections but under the skin.Other symptoms include burning, itching, redness and extreme tenderness on both the reduced and the reconstructed side. I think this has more to do with a surgery complication than anything related to cancer.

My surgeon doesn't know what's causing it and said they have never seen this reaction before. Does this sound comparable to anything anyone else experienced? I'm fairly sure the implant isn't infected, it's just these leisions all along the scars. I'm At a loss for what to do (tried all sorts of antibiotic topical creams, tried warm compresses) and it's getting worse. Surgeon wants to do exploratory surgery next week to see what is going on, and maybe remove implant. I would very much like to hear if anyone else has heard of or experienced this.
