Hello, I was just diagnosed last week at 33 with IDC on the left side. I had an MRI and got a call back for the right side. I can't get any more info. and they can't get me in for the next MRI for two weeks!

Has anyone got a call back on an MRI? I know they can pick up a lot. If so, did it end up being anything?

I just got some more news. They see an "indeterminate oval enhancing mass.

Did you ask the referring doctor for an explanation? You also might try getting a copy of the MRI disk with printout from medical records. If it is there, you have a right to it.

I called the doctor's office and all they told me is it is an "indeterminate enhancing mass" at the 3:00 position in the other breast. I am freaking out. What are the odds that I have breast cancer in both breasts at 33

Hi TC. Odds are low. But nevertheless I completely understand you concern. Waiting is the worst! You have a right to the MRI report so I'd call and ask them to email it to you. Then you will at least have more info. So sorry and hang in there.

Thank ou. Maybe it is a fibroid or something. I'm hoping. I'm exhausted from this already

Hi ToughCookie. They dropped just enough info to scare the heck out of you on a Friday and expect you to calmly wait until Monday for more clarification. Damn! What the heck is an "indeterminate enhancing mass"? It may be nothing more than a shadow from a fibrocystic cyst, but still..! The good news is that you are already starting treatment for the other breast which means they can go ahead and treat both breast at the same time if necesssary. Have you had a CT or PET scan yet?

They are making me wait until next Thursday for more results. No CT or PET. I have been told that since I am 33, they only want to do that if necessary to not expose me to more radiation. They are going to do my surgery first. I'm hoping it is nothing!!

It has been rough! My mom died in June, now this, and my boyfriend has decided he can'thandle this. It can only go up from here right?

It's tough waiting. i'd call the surgeon and ask exactly what they reported on the results and what is the next step.

thank you beach2beach. I tried that and was promised a call back Friday. I also called the breast health Centre and was advised a nurse would call me Friday as well. Neither called. What a weekend. I think the call back on the MRI was the last straw for my boyfriend

Cookie, I got a callback after my pre-surgery MRI for my other breast. They scheduled me for a targetted ultrasound for what was suspicious of fibroadenoma, which US confirmed. They followed it up for two years and then stopped when there was no change.

These diagnostic and staging scans reveal too much of our bodies! Most of which are thankfully benign. My staging CT also revealed some liver findings suspected of hemangioma which was followed by an US and post chemo CT.

The early days are really uncertain and scary. Wishing you the best and hope you'll through this as quickly as possible

ToughCookie - I'm so sorry to hear about your boyfriend. When it rains, it pours. I've heard it's not uncommon for a partner to bolt when we need them the most. You're still young so you'll find someone better. This may be a blessing in disguise. I'm sure it doesn't feel that way now, but it will. Do you have friends or family nearby who can assist you if you need help during treatment?

Hi Meg, my dad and aunt are nearby and are great. My brother is great too but lives three hours away. I have some incredible friends. Sadly my mom passed suddenly this past June, so I don't have her around. Thank you for the message
