I have invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3. Lump looks to be under 2 cm and lymph nodes look good on imaging. Not hormone receptors yet. I'm worried about them finding more on MRI and if its spread. I'm scared and not sure of what to do right now. I'm sad that its such a high grade. I'm afraid of having nasty surprises coming up soon and of chemotherapy which I am almost sure to have. On a positive note. I had a very good hospital experience. They really helped me to feel safe and cared for. The silver lining on my dark cloud

So sorry to hear what you are going through. First diagnosis is the worst time. Once you start your treatment and get that cancer out you will be able to breathe again.

Actually I wouldn't worry about the grade, chemo should work well on grade 3. You may or may not need chemo, but if you do there are things you can do and take to get through it.

Hi. This waiting period was really rough for me, too. It gets easier - I swear.

I'm so happy to hear that you are having a good experience at your hospital. It's so important to feel like you are getting good care by people who are committed to you. Feeling safe is a HUGE help in the healing process.

Easier said than done, I know, but try not to fixate on the Grade. That's especially hard when you don't have a lot of other info to hold on to yet. Grade 3 tumors generally respond well to chemo therapy (the faster they grow the more chemo can work on them.) I'm in the midst of chemo and it's not nearly as bad as I was imagining.

You can do this - there are a lot of people here to support you all the way through!

Thanks Agatha NYC. I believe I will most probably be having chemo. What was the experience like for you?

This is the hardest part! Once you have a plan you will feel better. I had chemo too and it was much easier than I thought. One day at a time. Ask for anxiety meds if you need them, it really helped me.
