Like many of the others on this board I am new here and worried about a recent mammogram and ultrasound I had this week. I am only 30 years old with no family history of breast cancer. The results were "suspicious" (what a scary word to use!). My primary care doc is working to have me see a breast specialist before continuing on to receive an MRI and biopsy. The radiologist after my ultrasound seemed very concerned and did not do much to ease my fears. She said it could be radial scarring or another issue, but I got a negative vibe from her.

I am scared and very concerned that's it something serious and am looking for some support and silver linings from you wonderful ladies. I don't want to burden my family members with this until I know more.

KitKat, Did you get a copy of your imaging report? If so, what is the BIRADS score? And was it a diagnostic work up (based on you presenting with any symptoms) or a screening one?

    MTwoman,

Thanks for your response. They actually did not give me my imaging report, which by reading posts on this thread I now realize I should have asked for (and will ask for). It was a diagnostic report based on my PCP finding a small lump at about 11 a.m. on my right breast. They did a mammogram and ultrasound on both breasts and had "suspicious findings" for both. The left breast *may* be radial scarring, not so much so for the right breast, according to the doctor who came in the room after my ultrasound.

KitKat, if it was a diagnostic, then your options would be BIRADS 3, 4 or 5. Read more about that here: http://breast-cancer.ca/bi-rads/ The thing that may be in the left side is a Radial Scar, which is type of b9 finding (read more here: http://breast-cancer.ca/radscrs/)

“Suspicious" is a horribly scary word. I went through a screening mammo,dx mammo and biopsy in the last few weeks. My mammo was also suspicious, it terrified me. My results were B9. I hope the same for you. The waiting is absolutely brutal.

    Are they recommending a biopsy?

    Hi Wigging2000,

Glad to hear your results were b9. I went to see the breast specialist and she seemed a little more sure the left side us just dense, lumpy tissue and may not be anything bad. She did a biopsy on the right and as a precaution scheduled an MRI for next week.

    More waiting ...
