hi

Is there anyone with cancer who also has bipolar. I'm trying to way the pro's and cons of hormone therapy. There is not a wealth of information out there. I️ had a consult with a psychiatric oncologist who told me we can add more drugs to the four I️ am already taking to deal with side effects. Hel

Tigger, I have bipolar also.  I have done very well on Femara. Of course, it helped that I had already gone through menopause, so I think I had an easy time of it. I have only one side effect:  Joint pain. Ugh. I already had arthritis, so I just thought my arthritis got worse. Nope. It's the Femara. My MO offered to switch it to something else, but I decided against that. Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't know.

I have been surprisingly stable over the course of my cancer experience. I didn't really have too much trouble until AFTER chemo was finished and I had a BMX. That went horribly wrong and I ended up with severe depression and PTSD. My psychiatrist had to had Lexapro to my other fleet of meds. But, you know, whatever works...It took about 6 months for me to get back on my feet emotionally, and then I was able to drop the Lexapro.  I am almost 2 years post-final chemo and I have been able to reduce some of my other drugs now.
