26 years old, possible pagets disease?
hi everyone,
I am 26 years old. Two or three weeks ago I noticed my right areola was looking dry, within a few days it was red, inflamed, scaly, and was draining light yellow/red. No itching, just pain and burning. I went to my doctor today, first thing he did has fill out a requisition form and I am scheduled to get a mammogram and ultrasound of that breast next week. Seems like he was pretty concerned and asked me if breast cancer ran in the family.
He said that if it comes clear he will refer me to get a biopsy done.
Anyone have anything similar? Terrified it's Pagets disease. Also doesn't help that I'm a nurse and over research everything either.
Breast cancer runs in both sides of family.

ashleyalyssa1991 - Sorry that you have found yourself here. The uncertainty is the worse part. The ONLY way to diagnose Paget's is with a biopsy. My mammogram came back clear and ultrasound tech said they would not have spotted it either had it not been for the MRI. It could very well be eczema but because you have a genetic factor I would ask for a biopsy so you can know for sure one way or the other. Please keep us posted!

sorry you are going through this
I have similar. Dry itchy nipple skin. Had a perfect MRI and ultrasound and so now the breast surgeon did a biopsy and I’m gettjng results Friday. I would urge you to go to a breast specialist/ clinic as pagets it’s very tricky to diagnose. Took me 6 months of dermatologists and specialists before I actually got the ok to do a biopsy.

Hi ladies and thank you for your replies. Seems like the doctor wants to rule out any type of cysts or blocked duct that's infected.
I called the x ray clinic and they can squeeze me in this Saturday. Typically how long does it take to get results from a mammo and ultrasound?
As far as the biopsy goes, I do see my dermatologist for other reasons but the office said since this is a different concern I would need another referral but have to wait for my other results first.
Extremely stressful and I'm thinking it's probably some sort of dermatitis/eczema but still worried it could be something worse.
We are in the midst of building a house and I'm engaged to be married next September so definately bad timing. Fiance is extremely supportive and has been helpful with calming me down lol.
