Anxiety while waiting for mri and biopsy
I'm not dealing with waiting very well. I'm having bad anxiety attacks and uncontrollable ugly crying. At my spot compressions they found a 2cm lump (mass? The radiologist never said mass) that I got ultrasound on. The radiologist said it looks like scar tissue and asked about trauma (I had a big bruise there and told her). It's right behind my nipple and is solid. I can't feel it despite trying many times the last 2 days. Radiologist is concerned about a dimple in the area and wants to do a mri next week and biopsy the week after if i still need it following the mri. It liked like a oval with smooth edges on the mri.
I'm scared to death and can barely function. I just want to stay in bed with my dog all day. I'm trying to stay positive but keep thinking it's going to be stage 4 and everywhere. Looking for advice.

I got some of the OLLY chewy vitamins (gaba) to help with stress, they work pretty good. It sounds like you are on a very slippery slope. I understand the stress, I really do. Look for some strategies to keep yourself calm. Try to keep busy with your favorite hobby and give yourself 24 hours where you're not allowed to think about it. I hope everything turns out ok.

Thank you. I'm doing a lot better today. I have to think positively and stop looking at the worst case scenario. I'm going to go see a councillor next week (saw one while dealing with accepting being childfree after infertility). I know in my head that there's still a good chance it's benign. And if it is cancer then there's a very good chance it's early. Have to stay away from the dark corners.

Larlaw, try not to get ahead of yourself. I know it's easier said than done. Remember 80% of biopsies turn out to be benign. The important thing is that you are doing what you need to and showing up. Pls keep us posted. Sending positive thoughts for B9 results your way!

Thank you. I'm doing better today. I had a good chat yesterday with a friend of mine who had breast cancer 5 years ago. She reminded me that most people are ok but you don't hear those stories. I'm still having panic attacks but they aren't as bad as the last few days. I have an appointment with my pcp on Wednesday and with my employee assistance program coordinator on Tuesday so I can get some counselling. Almost 2 years ago my husband and I went through fertility tests and I got a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure. Add that to my dad dying from esophageal cancer when I was 17 and my expectation is always bad news.

MRI scheduled for tomorrow at lunchtime.

Larlaw - sending all the best thoughts for your MRI. Being scared and anxious is totally understandable and normal. It sounds like you are taking care of yourself and NOT hiding under the covers no matter how tempting that can be at times. That's fantastic.
Please let us know how it goes. We're all with you in spirit.

MRI was at lunchtime. I asked them after how long for the results and they said 7 days! Gross. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow morning with my pcp and I hope she can shed more light on everything. Today is my third wedding anniversary and we went out for supper which I was able to enjoy.

Update from me. I got my MRI results this morning and there was no sign of any possible malignancy. Two different radiologists looked at it and they both had the same conclusion. The spot they were looking at didn't take in any of the contrast. I'm completely relieved. I have to go back in 3-6 months for another mammogram and MRI. My dr felt it while I was in her office and she said it was a patch of dense tissue and not a lump. My biopsy scheduled for next week has been cancelled. Oddly enough I think the same thing happened to my mom a few years ago.
Thank you so much to everyone here for your support and well wishes during a very difficult week. I sincerely hope that anyone reading this also has good results. I wanted to make sure to update as I often look at old threads in health boards and there is often no followup with results.
