I've completed 5 yeras of Anastrazole. The Breast Cancer Index came back high risk for recurrence/high benefit. I've considered continuing with Anastrazole, but am concerned re.its impact on my long-standing body-wide autoimmune neuropathy. In addition I have osteoporsosis which I prefer not to treat with medication seconary to concerns re. side effects/impact on autoimmune neuropathy. My oncologist has suggested that I consider starting Tamoxifen. Has anyone else taken this route?

I have had one year of Tamoxifen and over a year of Anastrozole. My BCI came back the same as yours and I am going to try to go 10 years total. The Tamoxifen gave me depression at first, but once I started taking magnesium that resolved itself. The only reason I stopped Tamoxifen was because of a blood clot, BUT this was after surgery and I was unable to take my aspirin a day. I also had a narrowed iliac vein that I did not know about. On Tamoxifen, I had some hip pain in a previously injured location, but nearly as bad as the muscle and joint pain that I get from the AI.

Yes, my mo recommended tamoxifen after I completed AI treatment. I told him I really didn't want to because I was starting to feel so good off meds. He said ok and didn't press further. I was not offered BCI testing. I will ask him why when I see him next month.

Meow13 thanks for responding. I certainly understand your reluctance to start Tamoxifen after coming off of AI's. I too am starting too feel better now that I have been off of anastrazole for a month. So difficult to know what to do...
