I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Thankfully, I didn't experience these problems after my bilateral reconstruction. I'm thinking that maybe by you having the flu and vomiting, maybe you pulled the muscle? That's just my thoughts, but so glad you are getting it checked out. Positive vibes and heaing hands your way.
-
thank you. I felt very yucky yesterday. But Until was throwing g up and diarrhea for 2 days. Paint n was on my back burning ,ya k ow. Today she I showered and needed to peel the bra off on I realized it's not mom. Do you think it's ok to play a heating pad in then tonight.,?

This doesn't sound normal at all to me. Do you have any fever? Any areas that are more swollen or pinkish than others?
My experience was that the pain gradually decreased. I did have feelings of tightness and strange sensations at times, but I worry if you're having any difficulty breathing - even if it's not a true inability but just from the amount of pain.
You should call your doctor now and get their advice. That's what they're there for.

First I commend all who read through my crappy typos.lol
I do not have a fever but the pain is more intense. I called my PS last night. Unfortunately since we are in a small town the ER is not really equipped to deal with fluid build up. His concern was if they appear to remove fluid they could puncture my expander. Most likely not the case but I am nearly a traveling problem. If it could happen,it will,to me. Not a negative Nelly, but a realist. He told me to wrap myself with an Ace bandage, and give as much compression as possible. If the pain is too much to call him back, otherwise come in first thing Monday morning.
When he removed my drains the other day I still had quite a bit of drainage. When I had my BiLateral Mastectomy I had fluid removed for a good 3 weeks after 4 weeks of drains. Not looking forward to removal if it's the same.
Thank you for all the advice. I will update again later.

After my BMX, I had 2 of my drains for 4 weeks. When he took them out they were still producing a lot of fluid, and they extracted fluid for another 4 weeks. Luckily I was still numb, and didn’t feel any pain. My last drain from the exchange surgery was taken out a week ago, and it was still producing 60 cc’s a day, but I told the NP that it was down to 25. I think some people just produce more fluid than others. They said I was using my right arm too much, but I was doing nothing! I couldn’t do any less. No problems so far. I have an occasional pinch, but no real pain.

we could be twins..lol
Today has been rough. I don't think I've ever looked forward to getting stabbed by a needle.lol
I now have a rash that started on my knees and is spreading like wild fire. Have not eaten new foods, laundry detergent, soap or lotion..nothing..but so typical of me. I took benadryl, applied Caladryl still spreading. It's an itchy but burning rash.. w t h..
-
GAMomma - I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow, please keep us posted!
Rrobin0200 - i saw your bio and your stats are similar to mine. I have 1 cm of DCIS under the nipple due to Paget's and am scheduled for a double MX on Nov 30th with what I'm hoping will be direct to implant on day of surgery. I have implants now so my plastic surgeon feels confident that if all looks well I should be a good candidate. How was your recovery? Any words of wisdom?
-
GAMomma - Are you on an antibiotic? The rash could be a reaction to one ...
-
nope.. been done. I had already been taking benadryl daily because pain meds and me do not really like each other. But I have not taken either since early last week. My daily meds are synthroid, ambien at bedtime, a form of lasiks(not taken that since surgery because my blood pressure been too low)I taken that for continuous edema.and Paxil.
I took benadryl yesterday, 4 different times, nothing other then sleepy. Now it's on my whole right side including my face, arms, hand. It is super itchy but then is burns if I lean on it or scratch it.
-
GAMomma- hate to say this but it sounds like it might be shingles. Stress (not just the emotional kind) can cause a shingles flare to occur. I’ve had them twice. It doesn’t always blister and it can itch or burn or both. I’d go to your primary care dr ASAP to be evaluated. Healing thoughts and prayers coming your way
-
my hubby said the same thing. I didn't think it was because it's not blistered, but it is painful. I'm on stand by for my PS. He is in surgery all morning,it will be sometime after 12.
You know I spent Thursday and Friday throwing up with bad diarrhea. Late Friday I began cold symptoms. Sneezing like crazy. Which I will add sneezing when you have new incisions and expander freekin kills. Today I'm still snotty today.
SHINGLES would make sense since benadryl is not helping at all..😢
-
Shingles normally follows the path of a nerve and isn't very spread out to different parts of the body. Odd. Don't you hate that little dark cloud that follows you?
-
haha dark cloud is my mantra..lol
I was misdiagnosed in November due to the biopsy being done incorrect.
After finally getting most drains removed, the last drain was awful. They attempted to remove. They yanked I almost threw up,sweaty, dizzy. Accidentally my staples were suck in my drains also. Finally got it out but then needed a few stitches to get the opening to stop bleeding.
Our little girl kitten was diagnosed with cancer the same day I was.
Had hemorrhoids thrombost,3 days apart, then it created a rectangular tear..no pain like that in the world..I mean non..
I am a dark cloud always full of drama.. I literally could go on and.on. it never stops.😑
-
That's how I often feel! It seems like every diagnosis has to have some added thing, every medication leaves me with some weird SE, every surgical procedure has a quirk. It gets really tiresome.
-
Girl..preach it!
Still waiting for the docs to call.. still itchy, still in pain... gggrrrr
-
on shingles coverage area: it can vary widely from person to person and incident to incident. 1st incident for me covered face, neck and some scalp. 2nd incident covered upper chest on left, shoulder, neck, side and back. Side was from the underarm down and then extending across the back.
Any word GAMomma?

Finally home.. the rash, sweet Jesus it's killing me. He has no idea. But does not want to give me a steroid, due to steroids lowering your resistance. I had a 101 fever also. I didn't realize it. I was so distracted from itching g and pain I didn't even notice feeling flush.
Anyhow,70 ccs of fluid later. To be honest I do not feel much better. He also removed 25 ccs from my expander also. It was only my right side. The left is swollen also but nothing like the right. He tried different areas to get fluid but it's not happening. He said sometimes inflammation is so bad it's hard for the patient to feel a difference fluid and inflammation. I cannot take Nsaids by south, due to gastric bypass,as well as a history with peptic ulcers.. he wrapped me over the bra. Told me to keep it on there until noon tomorrow. Remove it and see how it feels. If it still hurts to go to Surgicare at the hospital. He will ultra sound my breast to check and make sure all is ok.
The rash .. it is not his area of experience. He told me to take Pepcid AC because it's a histamine block? Maybe? Also take benadryl and use Caladryl. If not better tomorrow call my dermatologist. I'm not itchy constantly. It seems to be super itchy, then tender like a bad sunburn. He did not think it was Shingles though. However he said I am his most challenging of ever.. Gee,I'm so surprised.
-
yep, Pepcid is a histamine blocker. So sorry you didn’t get the answers you were hoping to. Sending you well wishes and warm thoughts! Hope you’re able to get some rest tonight.

Ugh! Not the "no answer" answer! I hope those meds and some more time will help to resolve or declare this latest hurdle.
-
Hey everyone.. I will be callicalling the dermotolgist asap. It is spreading, hurts more. I took a few pics. Although not sure if the images really shows it that well.
-
to top off my day we are having plumbing issue. The first floor tub is full off all the other bathrooms toilets..we have 3.5 bathrooms. Nice... hubby tried so hard to unclog them but it is not happening. This .is.my.life.
-
thanks Lula. I fit so much of ot,except the rash. Characteristly speaking. It is wide spread. Began my left pinky, spread to my knees, back of knee, upper thighs,a few spots upper body, the right hand and elbow. Not in any type of line, along nerves.
Symptomaticly very fitting. Feeling very yucky, congested flu like Friday til present. Low grade temp. I'm 43,had chicken pox twice when I was small. Recently had co rtizone shots in both hips for bursitis..that lowers your resistamce, right? Calling the dermo right now.
-
good luck GAMomma! Tell the dermo everything even if you think it's not related. Write all your symptoms down before you go. And if you're like me (the one that never presents like a textbook case and ends up being that .1% of people who react weirdly to a medication) be sure to tell the dermo that too. Hoping he can figure it out fast and bring you some relief!
-
ok Dermot is not til 2:30. In the meanwhile back to the PS for more fluid removal. Plumber is set to be here between 3-6.
-
Hi- my son had a rash appear that looked very similar to yours. It turned out to be strep. He didn’t have a fever or sore throat- just a small cold. If they can’t find anything else maybe ask for a strep test. Good luck
-
the dermatologist was stumped. He took a skin sample from 3 areas. He is almost sure it is not shingles but he really was perplexed. As a precaution blood work was ordered. Both came back within normals limits. It's was just a cbc. He was more concerned about pneumonia since I have a cold also. My PS called today to let me know the fluid he removed was negative for bacteria. The dermo gave me a cream to help but it burns like hell. No other meds because he did not want it mistreat it. So I wait. Itchy sometimes, more tender then itchy. The good news is it does not feel like it is spreading or getting worse. May be the Pepcid and benadryl are finally working..
The plumbing issue. He came only to find out it is our Septic tank. We rent, the landlord had no idea we had a Septic tank. Which means it has not been emptied for years. We call a Septic pumping place and they came about 4. This poor kid. He may have been 22? He is digging looking for the outlet, digging and digging then bam, water everywhere. For some stupid reason they put water lines over the Septic tank cover. He hit one trying to find the opening. It was a wet. Mess. He fixed it and all was right with the world. My poor husband is trying to hold it all together. Everyone to take care of then bathrooms to sanitize. The second floor shower is still a problem. After a lot of plunging,he found wax in the drain. Apparently my 10 yr old decided to change his scentsy cube of melted wax and dumped it down the drain. My husband was digging ,scraping well over an hour. I really thought he may kill a kid. It is still solid, but better. This is nothing new in the drama world I live in 😬
-
I hope you have answers soon, GAMomma. Your household sounds like mine! Glad to know I’m in good company😀
-
Hello everyone.. still itchy,blotchy...it is getting better, just slow..
My surgery site is improving. Again slow. I still get out of breath quickly. It hurts..a lot. I must have misunderstood or they with held info. I'm not on pain meds, have not been for a while. Even if I wanted them my Dr said I needed to work thru the pain. But still very restricted..
-
Yes Jo I do feel like him..lol
Here is my current allergy med. Zyrtec 2 x daily, benadryl every 4 hours, singular 10mg daily, pepcid ac 2 x daily. Every 2 hours 8 need to alternate cortisone, steroid cream and falsely. It is a mess!
To answer you,yes it could be stress. After complete hysterectomy on June I began taking meds for hot flashes, effexor the sweats went away but the effexor dehydrated me awful. I was taking laxative a few times a day, fiber, stool softeners, everything. Oh MOM at night. I re tore a rectal tear from Jan. That pain is so SOS bad. All of my skin was so dry I was cracking and bleeding. It was awful. So we changed tp Paxil. Good no side effects except my ambien stopped working. We tried Ativan. This combo was good but Latvian gave me wild dreams. A change again.. however the new med, visaril, is not working at all. So anxiety is high. Surgery alone is intense, add problems-more anxiety,so it makes sense if my anxiety has caused this rash. She thinks it's actually from a antibiotic I took right after surgery. I am super sensitive to so much stuff. I was on benadryl before surg and right after, but maybe not long enough. Who knows.
