Bilateral DIEP reconstruction with Perjeta+Herceptin

I am looking for information regarding the HER+ targeted therapy (Herceptin and perjeta) and surgery. My MO is fine with doing both, but the PS is not and they have decided to stop the perjeta. I am a bit concerned about stopping the perjeta again. It was stopped for 9 weeks during my radiation treatments and just started back up again. The plan is to stop it again 6 weeks before surgery, not sure if they will reintroduce it again afterwards or not, but the advantage it is giving me seems to be less and less when they stop it so much.

I am leaning towards not doing the hormonal therapy because of side effects and well, maybe I should not do the reconstruction till the HER2+ targeted therapy is done. No sense in limiting even more my chances of survival just for this reconstruction. I was looking forward to being finished and back to some normalcy sooner rather than later and with waiting, I would be not starting this reconstruction surgery until September 2018.

Anyone have surgery during perjeta treatments?

Just hoping someone has some info. I guess no one is having surgery with perjeta.

I had Herceptin and Perjeta both before and after surgery. Before surgery, they were combined with weekly Taxol (the H/P once every three weeks). After surgery, the Herceptin and Perjeta continued every three weeks but I was done with Taxol. So the last infusion of the three drugs was 18 days before surgery, then the next infusion of H/P was maybe a week after surgery (I remember I still had the drains in). Nobody seemed concerned about it; they only wanted to be sure there was a window of a couple of weeks after stopping Taxol.

Thank you for posting Rainnyc. I appreciate the reply. Did you have any healing issues at all?
