Liver Mets

Seeking some advice re: new mets to liver. I am in a period of disease progression and discussing systemic treatment with my Oncologist this week. Just wondering if anyone has seen good response to particular chemo

My wife had good response to Xeloda, but I see you have been on that already. I assume for mets?

    Thanks Husband11,

I had a good response to Xeloda in the past, before entering a clinical trial. Perhaps this will Ben an option again.

    Hi,

I already posted this, but was pointed here by the moderators

I'm a long time lurker and need some information.

Can anyone who experienced tumour flare pain to their liver tell me how soon after chemo change did the pain occur and was there any indication of raised lft's or low white blood counts etc? Not ctc bloods, and how long did it last before it completely stopped

    Thank you

husband 11. I think you shared some info about chemoembolization to liver. But it was not TACE. I think they used adriamacin and had good results. Do you remember what it was called? It sounded very interesting but now I can't find the post.

Maybe you can find it and share again, please.

I'm drawing a blank. Are you sure it was me? It's been a while since I looked into that topic. Someone fairly recently posted about an "enhanced" ethanol ablation technique where they add some thickening agent to alcohol and inject it into the tumor.

husband 11. I thought it was you, but I must have misremembered (if that's even a word). I'll keep asking on different threads. Thanks

Hi Grannax, I think you are referring to DEBDOX (drug eluting beads - doxoubicin). I believe it is a subset of TACE and different than the traditional TACE. I saw a study with incredible results. Very long progression-free and overall survival. Quite interesting as a potential option in the future. I have not heard of anyone around here who has done it. Would love to hear from someone with experience with it.

Here is a link to an abstract about DEBDOX: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22200868

JFL. Thanks, that is the one I was thinking of, for possible future use. It seems like the results are better on this one than other TACE procedures.

I think a friend of mine is doing this one. But, she's in a clinical trial in Philadelphia, she has ocular melanoma and mets to liver. I've heard that it did reduce the size of her tumors, I don't know specifics.

halavan has been great for my mom... knocked out the seven liver lesions. She's been on it for about 10 months- just had a stable pet scan. Good luck.

That's great news for your Mom and for me! So good to hear she has tolerated it and benefited for so long!

    Best,

    Hi JeeNee,

I had a complete response to Doxil last year then progressed again on Ibrance and Femara. I'm on taxotere now. What treatment has been suggested?
