Had ultrasound guided biopsy today for calcifications

HI,

So, I had an ultrasound guided needle biopsy today for calcifications....doc mentioned during procedure that he did not get them all and I would have to go back in in a few weeks and have same procedure again no matter pathology report. I asked why he couldn't do it today and he said he had caused enough trauma and wanted healing to happen and was also concerned about the amount of lidocaine I had......I really think it's crazy to go back in if results are negative...I am worried about my experience today...what are your thoughts?

I agree that sounds odd! If it were me I would seek a second opinion on that.

Ya, 2nd opinion might be a good idea. How many samples or biopsy spots do you have?

I think he got 3 spots, but said the one that looked most like a line, not a dot, he did not get....

Kerkim, IMO I'd wait for your pathology report. Then, as Shazelwo and Greeneyes suggested, I'd seek a second opinion as it doesn't make any sense to remove b9 calcifications. We all get them as we age, or if there is trauma to the breast. And they're not removed. If subsequent imaging continues to show them as unchanged, no need for further follow up. Good luck!
