Found out today that I have w suspicious areas on my thyroid that will need biopsy. Im trying to remain calm, but I'm beginning to get nervous. I dont know what to do with myself while I wait for more info.
Anyone else here deal with thyroid cancer, or even mets to thyroid?
Thx

I need a thyroid ultrasound. My Nurse Practitioner warned me do not be surprised if you get a call back,
because lots and lots of women do and it turns out to be nothing. Hope that is the case with you!

Everything I have read says thyroid cancer is rare. So I'm trying to remain optimistic. But, pull back the curtain and I'm nervous. I just want to get some answers. They sent the order over today, so hopefully I will be called tomorrow.

I have a nodule in my thyroid......It showed on my pet scan 2 years ago.
MO didn't even mention it
I had biopsy last year and it was benign the nodule was kinda big but I didn't want to have surgery unless it was medically necessary......Last US showed it shrunk just the little bit
Biopsy only took few minutes I didn't feel a thing.
Good luck to you...the full result almost took 4 weeks but they can tell the results in few days before it sent out where they do the part 2 of the test

On my PET scans I have nodules in the thyroid and I did ultrasound and they are not cancer. From what I learned from my MO, nodules in thyroid is very common so do not worry about too much.
I hope this helps.

I debated whether to post or not as I didn't want to make you more nervous, but I did have thyroid nodules that turned out to be thyroid cancer.
During my chemo days, I had a PET scan to follow up on bone pain and the nodules were discovered. I had my thyroid removed after chemo was finished and had the radioactive iodine treatment. It's been 2 years since that time and I'm fine now.
Thyroid nodules are very common and the majority turn out benign. Positive thoughts going out to you that that will be the case for you.

I had a thyroid nodule 30 yrs ago...I guess it was pretty big, as I found it bc I felt a lump on my neck! They did an U/S with iodine, I think. Said it was a "cold" nodule. Had it removed, which leaves me with half of my thyroid, but no meds or problems since. I didn't have it biopsied until it was removed. It was benign. Doc said my body will adjust and it has. He said if it was cancer, that it is the best kind to have...whatever that means. I guess it is very slow growing and not real aggressive. Try not to worry on top of everything else. I hope all turns out well for you.

I have heard that if everyone was autopsied after dying of old age we would all have thyroid nodules.
I had one and had an ultrasound that showed it to be "suspicious" so I had a biopsy that confirmed "suspicious" so I had surgery (one side of thyroid removed) and pathology showed it to be benign. The same thing recently happened to a friend. She was told she had cancer and finally after surgery was told it was benign.
They seem to take their time with the investigations since it is usually slow growing and easy to cure in most cases if it is cancer.
Hoping for benign for you.
