Hey Gwinnettgirl~ I'm so sorry you're having to go through this again. I have stage 2 tnbc my tumor is 2.8 cm. I am now in chemo I finished up 4 rounds of AC and now I'm going in tomorrow for #6 of 12 weekly taxol. I will then have a lumpectomy and then 4 to 5 weeks of radiation. We're all different so I can only speak of my treatment.

I'm so sorry you are facing this again. The good thing is that triple negative usually responds better to chemo then other types of bc. I had a 2.2 cm TN tumor. After 4 rounds of ac and 8 rounds of Taxol the dr says he can't feel it anymore. Chemo sticks but it was tolerable. Everyone is different. Check out the triple negative thread on here.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with bc again! I have TNBC and I'm doing chemo but I think plans are very individualized. Hopefully you'll get a good plan at Emory. Keep us posted and let us know how your appointment goes.

Hi - chemo is definitely the standard of care for TN, because there are no targeted hormonal therapies. If you look at the NCCN website, recommended to me by my MO, it will show you charts that saywhen chemo is recommended, not recommended and to be considered. With TN 1cm or over, always recommended. Hope this helps and so sorry you're here.

Txs for responding! Sorry u have this as well.
I went to that site and could not find the chemo recommendations. Could you be more specif? Did u have to regester to access info?
Txs for your help!

sorry so long to respond. If you go to their website and go to breast cancer section, there is a link for stage 1 and 2 - it s a booklet that goes through diagnosis etc - a few pages in are the charts for chemo.

I’m so sorry. I was diagnosed Oct 2015 with TNBC IDC in right breast and ER/PR+ LBC in left. Both stage 1. I did A/C chemo. Bilateral mast. Radiation on right side and xeloda. Every day I am concerned about recurrence.
Chemo is the only treatment that works for TNBC. You can get through it. I am NED 2 yrs later after the treatment. Back to living life and new granddaughter on the way. You can get past this. I was frantic when first diagnosed. Then realized after all was done that I am Ok and looking forward to new life experiences. Have great physicians and nurses caring for you. Rest when you need too and focus on healing

I am happy for you!!! Did u have sore mouth?
-
I did have sores in my mouth. My oncologist prescribed magic mouthwash and that healed it very quickly.
-
Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste worked well for me during chemo. You can get it at CVS,Target, or Walmart. Hope the rest of your chemo goes well.
