Biopsy on Birads3
I don't really understand why my Dr is pushing for a biopsy on each breast when the radiologist suggested a follow up in 6 months?? I guess I appreciate their pro activeness but unless they know something that I don't, or there's something going on other than what's in this report.. I just don't get it. I go to the surgeon on the 21st and I will find out more then but as for now...I am confused.

Thank you for noticing that icietla! Didn't think nothing of it. I fixed it!

Which doctor is pushing? Your primary care/gyn, or a breast surgeon/specialist? It says everything is stable & doesn't see or mention anything but cysts. I don't know either. How old are you? Do you have family history the doc finds concerning?

Melissa, I went to an imaging center. They did my ultrasound and came back in and told me everything looked ok and to follow up with my Dr. Went home and later that day my primary care Dr called and said I'll be needing a biopsy on each breast. Nothing on the report jumped out at me either. I'm 36 and no history of breast cancer in my family.

From what I see here, PC & Gyn docs are definitely not breast experts & frequently make recommendations like this. I'd just show up for my referral & see what the breast surgeon says. He may say he is perfectly comfortable watching it too & sees nothing alarming.
I had something similar last time. I got scheduled for a biopsy on a barely concerning "complex cyst vs. benign inframmamary lymph node." I didn't even know it had been there, but apparently they had watched it. I got there, and after going over the imaging Itold the radiologist I would have been fine with a six month follow up and she said she would have been too. Since I was already there we went ahead. It collapsed when she stuck it. Cyst. I was reallykind of aggravated at the whole thing.

Yeah, I'm a little aggravated too. Mostly because I just don't understand them needing to biopsy, not one, but both breasts! You're right... The surgeon may end up saying I don't need the biopsies. I can't say I don't disagree.

I mean it says right on there that the cysts are STABLE!!! And from my knowledge... Birads3 issues rarely get biopsied. This just screams unnecessary to me.
