Rib mets?

Hi all,

Reaching out for some help and advice.

I have recently had a very sore right breast (cancer side) for about ten days, I went to the GP who examined me and listened to my chest, he said that I have pneumonia and the infection has spread to the soft tissue between my ribs. I have bee on anti-biotics since last Thursday - the pain is worse. I do have a really bad productive cough, so could I have pulled a muscle?

Today I saw a surgeon about reconstruction and he poked my rib and it really hurt and he has ordered a bone scan. I don't want to go out of my mind with worry, but don't know how to avoid it.

My ribs hurt when I breath in, and when I press on my boob, and yes, it hurts all of the time. The wire in my bra hurts too.

Can any of you experienced ladies let me know if my symptoms sound like rib mets?

    When I had pneumonia, I coughed so hard that I developed pleurisy and broke a rib. The pain was horrible. I am guessing your pain is from pneumonia, but I'm glad it is being checked out. Hoping you feel better soon.

    Thanks so much for replying. I am trying to be calm and keep an open mind, I do think the pain coincided with the coughing, so am waiting patiently . . . . . .

    Hi all, I had my bone scan. It came back clear for bone mets but identified some uptake in soft tissue near pleura. Could this be malignant pleural effusion?

    I am going out of my mind and they are not going to tell me anything else until the 18th November.

    If you have any information or advice, I will be very greateful.

    Did you have radiation? I am 5 years out from Rads and still have pain in ribs ESPECIALLY when I had bronchitis. It was AWFUL then!

    Coughed my head off. My lung was damaged from rads...

    Thanks so much for replying. The pain is bad, but I am more concerned about what they have seen in the scan - I am going out of my mind.

    Did anything show up in a scan with you?
