Cycles of treatment

Thought I posted this earlier today but I do not see it.

I cannot, for the life of me figure out how long my chemo is to last! I'd really appreciate some help. I don't see my onc again for another week and I am honestly obsessing over this. I've had 2 tx's and not new to chemo, just different cancer this time)

My chemo tx consists of 1st week carbo plus taxol

2nd 3rd & 4th week taxol only

(no break)

start over carbo plus taxol then 2nd, 3rd & 4th weeks taxol only

etc. etc.

I finally remembered to ask about length of treatment when I went in for labs today. PA said 12 cycles.

Does that mean 12 X 3 = 36 weeks???? (for the 3 taxol only weeks)

and then add 12 X 1 = 12 weeks???? (for the carbo plus taxol week)

My God that is 48 weeks of TX. That can't be right, can it??

I answered this on your other thread but will also add it here. Probably 12 weeks, as you’re doing 1: weekly cycles of Taxol, with Carbo added the first, fifth and ninth weeks

Bless you NancyHB! I read your history and hoping you are doing well. Just an FYI:I was dx stage 4 ovarian 15 years ago, had recurrence 4 1/2 years ago. I understand it's not the same at all, but late stage is a shock to say the least and here you are reaching out to other people with concerns... As my young friends say....you rock!

I’m also doing carboplatin & Taxol and it’s going to be 12 weeks in total.

    Good luck!

Thanks Flynn! I knew/hoped my math had to be wrong. Whew! will verify with onc asap but you and Nancy have brought the anxiety down to a sane(?)level.
