Estrogen 98% Progesterone 71%
Hello! This is my first post. I’m one week post right lumpectomy and will see an oncologist next week. Even though the tumor was ER+PR+ the progesterone is 71%. I’ve been trying to see if there’s any significance but couldn’t find anything. Did anyone else have results like that and were there any implications for treatment?
Thank you

Mine was 97% Er and 100% Pr. All I ever heard was your hormone positive, great news, hormonal therapy is in the line up. Even if Er is weakly positive they give hormonal therapy. What was your number on ER? I had the same question as you and googled, but never really found an answer.
I'm currently on Tamoxifen since September. I'm going to add that to my list of questions when I go for my 3month follow up withe my Onc.

Thank you for responding. My estrogen receptor is 98%. When my surgeon called with biopsy results he mentioned I should get Oncotype DX and said something about the 71% progesterone receptor. Maybe I misunderstood any connection, but he made a point of it. I’m hoping the oncologist can clarify next week and I’ll post his answer.

I had the OncotypeDx test done also. Came back as a 9. No chemo. That's what they are looking for on that test. It will state by the genes and the way they behave on the OncotypeDx, what the 10yr risk of distant recurrence after 5yrs of hormonal therapy is and the prediction of any chemotherapy benefit along with hormonal therapy is. The test also gives values of ER/PR and HER2, but states it uses a different system to measure it.
Again, my Onco and breast surgeon just told me..score of 9 no chemo, just tamoxifen. Never a mention of anything else. I hope the same goes for you. Let us know.

Hi Garifalia, My tumor is very similar to yours. I'm 95% ER, 80% PR, stage 1A, grade 2, node negative. My Oncotype score is 12. No chemo was recommended. Just Anastrozole as I'm postmenopausal. It's been a little over 3 1/2 years since lumpectomy, and I've been doing great.

Thank you so much for finding & sharing this information.I'm glad to hear that!

Just to follow up: The surgeon told me today a lower progesterone result usually means a higher Oncotype DX score. I also met with oncologist. He ordered the Oncotype DX so I’ll get my score in 10-14 days. He said an intermediate PR+ result of 71% is still good for hormone therapy. So now I wait again for results.

That's interesting about lower progesterone = higher oncotype score. I haven't heard of that.
Yes that was a nerve wracking time. Every phone call that came from my surgeons office from the moment of dx, to hormone score, to surgery date, to pathology and oncotype I freaked each time I saw her office number on my cell.
Fingers crossed yours comes back low.
