Hi - I've just joined the site today - was looking on the web for side effects of Anastrozole which I took for only 8 weeks after my op and radiation. All went very well considering but after only first week of these tablets my hands  started to be very stiff - then my arms and shoulders - then my feet and knees and legs and hips............all gradually getting worse and worse until I couldn't turn over in bed  - needed help getting up from a seat  or out of a car......really making my life miserable.  I had my last meeting with the head of oncology whom I had never seen before and tried to explain but he was obviously in a hurry and just said to persevere.  Well I have always believed in quality over quantity and anyway I am nearly 74yrs old, so IF I live another 5 years (and I am NOT being morbid, just realistic) then I don't see the point in being hardly able to move for that time! Anyways, can't say I am impressed with any of the alternatives and their side effects, so I shall not be taking anything at all - I could well feel differently if I were younger but  I started to feel an easing of the pain and stiffness after only a few days. I am now into my 4th week of nothing and apart from my hands and shoulders and slight movement problem, I am much much better. This is just my experience, I am sure it works okay for some and is also important to keep taking in so many cases. I am seeing my local GP next week and will let you know how she reacts to my decision.
