Starting Radiation August 2017

I had brain radiation today (gamma knife) but tonight I'm out seeing a friends band play and feeling good. Here's a disturbing pic from this morning though. So many jokes about this image, lol
-
illimae,
Hugs and prayers
-
Leogmaster225, thank you, yes I did! Finally!!
My goodness illimae, a picture sure is worth a thousand words.Sending positive thoughts your way!
-
Illimae, that is a rough looking contraption. I'm praying you get the best results from the gamma knife. I've heard good thinks about that. How many treatments do you have to do? You have been through a lot in the past year and this cancer thing is tiring. Hoping for better days ahead. Keep us posted- we can help if you need to vent or need support.
Congrats Twills!!
-
Lego, it was just a single session (I doubt many would return repeatedly, it is kinda brutal at first), total time was about 2 hours for all 5 lesions together.
All, thanks for the kind words and thoughts, I appreciate it.
No pain today, some minor discomfort at the pin sites but not too bad. I feel just fine and will be back to work Monday.
-
I'm sorry that you're going through the brain radiation, too, Illimae. It looks like the immobilization contraption blocks your nose. Was it difficult to breathe?
Even one of those treatments looks very intimidating.

you are a strong woman illimae , wishing you the best

I am positive I just have one more beating left for me. Nurse called me for hystrectomy on Monday. I told her I am looking forward to this operation. This is it. I won't be passing down bad genes to no children of mine and I will be going onto cantankerous wifey route.
-
Sorry for the late response. I am doing well, even walking a 5k on Sunday
Vlh, it didn't actually touch my nose but it was difficult to deal with tears and a runny nose (side view below).
Mamaoz, thanks, I appreciate the kind words and support.
Castingame, lol
-
It's great that you were able to do the 5K, Illimae!

illimae - prayers

Thanks ladies, I'm handling things pretty well and I can't change it now, so I just go with feeling good. 5k pic below, finished in under an hour, walking only.
Radiated skin is all healed up now but still a little darker in spots, I assume that's normal. Hope everyone else is well
-
Illimae ..your an inspiration!!!💕💕
-
illimae,
You truly are inspiration. Beautififul pics.
-
Illimae, love the 5K pics so much more than the contraption ones.
-
Curious if anyone else has dry skin still. My nipple which was so painful during radiation is still peeling after almost three months from the completion of radiation. Not very much peeling, just a small amount. Only there though.
-
My nipple peeled right after radiation but nothing now. I do use lotion every day still on recommendation from my PS. I still find rubbing my lotion on my breasts weird.
-
Mine stopped peeling within a week after finishing rads, it still feels a bit dry now but not bad. Still a little tan too,I think that's here to stay.
-
i have no pealing but i find if I dont keep stretching , like miss a few days my chest muscles feel like rocks!
I didnt have recon not sure if thats the reason i notice and my ribs are still sore , i finished 10/
-
MamaOz, I have to keep stretching too. I find in some positions it really pulls. I am still lumpy from radiation and of course finding that tightness. My last dose was August 29. I never had much peeling, but I am still very tan under my armpit.
