Is this normal to still feel like this
I had a lumpectomy last Thursday, I had a 5cm tumor which they still don't know if it is benign or not as waiting for the pathology report to come back, I'm nervous as hell I'm not eating, the scar is healing well bur a little infected so I'm no anti biotics now for that, my head is in such turmoil I have rang the breast clinic which I'm sure they are sick of hearing me to be honest, when I was washing the other day I felt that the lump was still there a lot of people have told me that it's just fluid collecting in the hole where the tumor was but I can't stop thinking what if they didn't take it out what if it's been left in? I don't want to keep ringing them cause I don't want them to think that I am going mad, I. Just don't know what to think or do at the moment
Has anyone got any advice

it probably is fluid build up and when pathology comes back on the tumor site they will confirm if they got clear margins or not. Try to relax most even if it comes back as breast cancer they do not normally grow very fast so if the margins were not clear they will let you know and address that issue. I'm sorry your are going through this and hoping for B9 results for you.

they did say they think by the characteristics of the tumor that it is a phyloydie's tumor which do grow rapidly, I'm petrified to be honest I'm scared they have missed the tumor completely as the lump feels identicall to when I first found it, I'm sorry to keep on and getting on everyone's nerves I just don't know what to think or feel

they won’t have missed it, don’t worry. They never miss it, sometimes they don’t get the tiny edge of it but they can get that out with another small surgery.
Don’t feel bad about wanting to call them... it’s normal.
Breathe and be gentle on yourself.

I've been waiting 8 days now for pathology results grrr the wait isn't helping, will these results show if they have got the entire tumour I don't understand how it all works to be honest, I trust my surgeon I really do but as I've not been advised about fluid build up I didn't expect to still feel a lump in the area I first found it, just made me assume the worst and had all kinds of things going through my head, what if I had more than one and they have missed one what if they took away flesh and left the tumor behind I hope these feelings are normal, I'm just so scared and to be told that the majority of these tumors are b9 but some can be malignant doesn't help me really either I just wish the results would hurry up so I can deal with what ever it could be, if it's b9 I won't have any follow up unless it comes back as a phylodies tumor then she said I will have to be seen for 2 years to Make sure it doednt return, I am just worried that the nurses and the surgeon are going to think I'm a bit of a hyperchondriac

Your pathology results will show if they got the whole tumor. It is called the margins. If the margins are clear on all sides they got it all. Sorry you have to wait, that is so hard.

the clinic rang me today and told me it was a fibroadenoma and it was harmless she didn't say if it was a success or weather they got the whole tumor but she did say my consultant will write to me in due course will the full report and there are no more appointments for me, I'm relieved I really am buy like I said I have the lump still well what feels like one anyway I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and if it''s still there I will go back to my gp who will refer me again and I can then get more tests done I'm just hoping it's like what others said fluid that's built up in the gap, I love this group everyone Is so lovely and full of such helpful advice I think I'd be worse if I hadn't of found this group
Xxxx

thank you so much means such a lot to have the support, hopefully the full report will explain a lot more in depth, If the infection hasn't settled down I can go back and have the site drained, that's all I'm thinking of now I'm not gonna think that the tumor is still there its just fluid well that's what I'm thinking anyway positive thoughts xxxx

I'm curious as to why they didn't do a biopsy before giving you a lumpectomy..?
-
Very glad to hear it's benign! Now go celebrate

-
they did biopsy sorry my post is a little confusing sorry, I had a biopsy about 4 weeks ago they said they still werent 100% sure what it was so they wanted to remove it for further testing, I'm just worried about the lump that still remains in its place but I've been told it's fluid and I'm sticking by that and if it's not settlrd I will go back to the clinic or my Dr and see what they say xx
