Dark hair dye linked to breast cancer
I've been using dark hair dye for years.I have no family history of breast cancer and I am negative for gene mutations.Hmmmm makes me wonder if this could be the culprit? What do you think?

there was an study done over 20 years ago linking dark hair dye to Hodgkin's lymphoma too. My guess is these studies are showing a correlation but can't prove causation. And it may not be the dye at all but something else those who use dark hair dye have in common that could be the culprit (i.e. Similar/same conditioning treatments, etc

That was a topic at beauty school, when I was there. The better salon brands lack ammonia, and a lot of chemicals that the store brands have. I don't know what you are using, but you may consider getting professional products on Amazon, if you do it yourself. I'd stay the heck away from pitch black, with any brand. That colorant has loads more chemicals, in order to take hold, than other, only slightly lighter shades.

Ugh!!! I naturally have very dark hair and now I'm not sure what to use to cover my grays.I have used loreal the color black for years.

my hair is naturally a very dark brown/black too. I had Hodgkin's lymphoma as a child, so when my mom saw the article about a potential connection I knew dark colors would be off the table for me.I decided to go red/auburn instead of coloring black. My hairdresser says he just lightens my natural color to get the red color. No idea what he uses to turn the greys the same color. But he did say that over time the greys will become natural highlights as they take the color different

Thanks Lula73!! maybe I will go auburn. I just wanted to say that I read your biography Lula73 and you are a true champion with all that you've had to endure and then some.

Thanks Lily2. I just take everything as it comes and see it as the next hurdle to jump and keep looking forward. If I didn't I think I'd go crazy. From your pic you look like you'd make a gorgeous redhead! Lightening our natural color also makes the shade of red/auburn look natural vs from a bottle. Post a pic if you decide to go that route. Would love to see it

Thank you Lula73 for all the good info! I will definitely post a pic if I go auburn.
