Mammogram and PCR

Options

I just finished neo-adjuvant ACT for triple negative and my pre-surgical mammogram showed that the tumor had shrunk by half. I was hoping it would no longer be detectable but no such luck.

Is it possible that the mammogram could be spotting dead tumor cells? Is surgery the only way to assess whether or not you've achieved PCR?

I have three weeks until surgery and I'm feeling impatient.

Yes, I have been told that MRI’s can pick up dead cells or scar tissue. My surgeon says that she gets an MRI so she has an idea what to expect but only the pathology matters, same as when you were diagnosed. Reading on here, it seems some people are pleasantly surprised post surgery and some people get unexpected bad news.

I hope you get positive news!

Thanks, Flynn! I'm encouraged that the ultrasound could no longer detect it - although I don't know whether or not that means anything.

    I appreciate the quick response!
