Wishing for my sanity I wasn't a nurse! Waiting for US

Hey ladies,

6 weeks ago I found a lump on my right breast, I monitored it but didn't really change. I don't get my period due to an IUD so couldn't track it's change in comparison to cycle. It's in the upper outer quadrant. Is not moveable, easily palpable, and has an irregular shape. No pain on palpating, but since noticing it feel twinges of pain radiating from that spot (probably my imagination)

SAw GP who felt it, and since I'm under 35 sent me for a ultrasound.

Just nervous, and wishing I didn't know as much as I know about cancer, and I think the fact I'm surrounded by the 2% (as in so many people who had bizarre or unlikely diagnosises) it's like being surrounded by "Dr.google" with all of the risks and potential outcomes surrounding me daily. Probably just fuelling stress.

Side note: I admire every single person who has gone through this journey, and sit on the other end of the computer and help comfort and support people who are stressing, knowing that odds are its benign. You're wonderful.

But yeah I guess, I'm not really asking anything. Just talking out loud. And hoping for the best.

Ultrasound tomorrow, will try not to access my results my self while I'm at work. Because that's not a good idea right?

Hi littlechik4! Welcome to BCO! Do you know if you will get ultrasound results on the spot, or will you have to wait? Sometimes they do an ultrasound, a radiologist looks right away, and then decides if they want to follow-up with mammogram for additional views. I had my mammogram which was looked at immediately, then sent for an immediate ultrasound. The radiologist came in to repeat the ultrasound herself, then discussed biopsy. It was nice to not have to wait for results, but then I still have to wait for the biopsy a week later.

I'm not sure if I'll get the results on the spot, but because the U/S is done at work, I can access the results.. but don't think it's the best idea because information taken out of context and such! But then also.. just the waiting is stressful enough

Did the radiologist discuss biopsy and do it on the spot ? Or was that what you had to wait a week for?

Thank you for your response :)

She came in and discussed the biopsy, but then they scheduled it for the next week. That was a hard week, but everyone there was so nice.

I can see accessing your own records going either way! If you don't fully understand what you are reading, then it could make your stress worse. Maybe ask them turnaround time on test results. If it's just a couple of days, maybe you can resist!!!
