Newbie and going crazy!!!
Hi All
I have just been dx with IDC in right 6cm. Originally thought it was 1.7cm and that hospital wanted to open me up and take it out. I went to Dana Farber for 2nd opinion, went for MRI, 6cm!!!! And small mass (1cm) found in left that was not picked up on mammogram. I’m going to start a trial that’s in phase 2 forTDM1 and pertuzumab for 6 cycles which should last 4 months, then I should have surgery and get re-evaluate for more chemo and radiation treatment.
My mother had BC at the age of 36 and is now 30 years BC free. I’m 45 and was negative for BRACA genes. I’m ER- PR slightly positive and HER2 +++
I can’t stop researching and some ppls stories are frightening!! I can’t sleep, and all I do is think!!! I’m exhausted and haven’t even started treatment yet!!!!

Hey Carin....These initial days are the toughest. So many unknowns and a lot to process! As you get going with the plan it will begin to get easier. Try to stay in today and take it one day at a time. Be very careful about "researching." This is a great site, but there are some out there that can definitely scare you. I found it hard to find the positive stories because those people were out living their life! Try to stay as peaceful as you can. I found taking a walk each day really helped.Take care Carin.

Hi Carin, it is a shock to everyone, breast cancer such a shocking news for anyone. There is so much information here, if you get anxiety talk to your doctor and get some Ativan to calm down and sleep. Take this time to organize your house and get ready for the fight. Waiting and doing all these scans and tests can be stressful also. Send your prayers

I too had to have a MRI to DX the size of my tumor. Mine was 5cm. I tell women who question to ask for MRI (course you have to fight insurance for it) That MRI took me from a plan to do lumpectomy to deciding on bilateral MX. I will tell you that I wanted nothing to do with having chemo first..I just wanted it gone. HOWEVER after knowing all I know now, I see why it is a good thing. You are able to see that the chemo is working.
I wish you the best in your treatments. I agree that if you are having trouble sleeping, talk with your doctor. They gave me something to help calm the nerves and keep me balanced. Gather your support team and kick some BC butt!

Thank You everyone.
I have started TDM1 and pertuzumab, so one down five to go!!! I actually read the mri report and it stated that I have two masses, one at 8.5cm and one that's 1cm approx. I'm doing good although my sleeping through the night is still a struggle! Thought about getting a sleeping pill off Dr but I need to work as much as possible as I'm in a job with no benefits!!!!
